Make it a trio of mindreaders at NBC/MSNBC. As noted here, yesterday Howard Fineman and David Shuster went Carnac on us, emphatically declaring that Barack Obama didn't have Sarah Palin in mind with his lipstick line. On this morning's Today, Andrea Mitchell joined her network stablemates [no pun intended!] in delving into Barack's brain and assuring us he meant no harm.
ANDREA MITCHELL: Barack Obama has been a punching-bag [aww] for a barrage of criticism from the McCain campaign. Charges that he slurred Sarah Palin when he said this about McCain and his change argument [cut to clip of Obama's lipstick line]. He was clearly talking about McCain, not Palin.
Well, guess that wraps it up. But wait. Over at Morning Joe, the group wasn't so forgiving, opining that Obama either did know, or should have known, the implications of what he was saying. Mika Brzezinski herself took the first shot.

nope it was clear only to those who wish it so
Andrea goes to bat for Barack ping to Today show list. [But Mika thinks he must have known what he was saying!]
Right, and Xlinton wasn’t lying.
it’s odd then that his audience took it that way.
McCain used the phrase, Cheney used the phrase, etc...but guess what, Neither McCain nor Cheney used the phrase right after the word “lipstick” was on everyone’s mind regarding their opponent. Neither McCain nor Cheney were in a political environment where the word “lipstick” was at the forefront of a political stump speech so I’m not buying Obami’s explanation.
4 different sources already proved he knew exactly what he was doing....
Well if he didn’t know he is incredibly stupid which is just as bad cause the audience sure reacted like it was Paylin
“He was clearly talking about McCain, not Palin.” -Andrea Mitchell.
1. When did McCain start wearing lipstick?
2. Hey, Andrea, get your head out of your posterior!
....and it’s also “odd” that the audience was heard chanting: “No more pitbulls, no more pitbulls.”.....Nobama is a very slick, sneaky and dishonest politician.
MSNBC’s Morning Joe has been out of control for 2 days now trying to help Obama get out of the lipstick debacle...
Clearly, Andrea, he knew the meaning of the intended double-entendre was completely understood by his whooping audience during his hesitation before firing out the finale. So your attempted point is moot.
The funny part is the more these “smart media types” try to extracate the messiah from the tar pit, the deeper they insert him and keep the issue alive.
She’s an Obama mouthpiece. What she says does not matter.
Obama: “Americans aren’t stupid.”
Some of the comments are very insightful:
What if McCain had said:
“Obama is a slave to his ambition”
“I will whip Obama in the debates”
“Obama is a cotton-pickin liar”
and
What if Sarah Palin said “Electing Obama would be a step back for blacks”?
Does anyone ask them about the stinking fish line that immediately followed the lipstick line?
Note: Andrea made her comment on the Today show. As the NewsBusters article details, they took the opposite view: that either Obama knew or should have known what he was saying. Even Mika agreed!
