STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) - A previously unseen film clip purportedly showing the release of Vietnam POW John McCain to the U.S. military in Hanoi in 1973 has been released in Sweden.
A former reporter for Swedish broadcaster SVT says he found the video in the network's archives.
SVT posted the edited 39-second clip on its Web site today. It shows McCain stepping off a bus with other prisoners. He has a pronounced limp but isn't using crutches.
It then shows McCain standing in a lineup when his name is called. He walks up to salute and shake hands with U.S. military officers. The last part of the clip shows a U.S. Air Force jet taxiing on a runway.
The SVT reporter says the footage was filmed in Hanoi on March 14th, 1973. He says it was shot by a Vietnamese photographer whom he had contracted to film the release of U.S. POWs.

I thought McCain couldn't lift his right arm high enough to salute. Guess I had that wrong.

OH MY GOD, I’m overwhelmed with pride, yet so sad for what they had to endure.

While John McCain was sitting in a Hanoi cell as a Prisoner of War, Barack Hussein Obama was attending a Muslim school in Indonesia learning how to pray five times a day.

“””I thought McCain couldn’t lift his right arm high enough to salute””””
Did not McCain have subsequent surgeries on his arms and/or leg after he was released?
To: NewMediaFan
That limp endears me to him even more.

He can’t today. He was a lot younger back then. It seems to me the injuries suffered back then have haunted him in his older years.

Did John McCain have corrective, subsequent surgery for his broken limbs? It appears that he had a better range of motion in his arms (1973) than he has now. Of course, it has been 35 years.
God bless him.

See this “proves” that Randi Rhodes and the moonbats are right. John looks just “fine”. “The Viet Cong treated him well”. You just watch the idiots at DU go crazy with this. The will say that McCain is/was faking his injuries. I hope they do. America will flame them if they go there.

I have recently read that he can’t lift either arm above his shoulders because of injuries he got in prison. I noticed that during his speech at the convention.

Maybe the injuries to his arms played hell with him as he got older. Like a knee injury when you’re in you teens...you can walk and run fine afterward. Then you hit middle age, and woa..you start to feel it.

When it comes time for men like McCain to go to Glory, I would like to think that upon arrival at the Pearly Gates, they’ll hear a voice from inside say, “Come on in, son! You’ve done your time Hell.”

It shows McCain stepping off a bus with other prisoners.
He has a pronounced limp but isn't using crutches.
I hope the Obama-bots cite this as proof McCain wasn't really tortured.
The t-rds have already floated that story.
Of course, they'll ignore the great likelihood that McCain was
in great pain walking without crutches.
And probably was just too proud to be seen as a "cripple"
using crutches, even if they'd eased discomfort.
Walking on that day was as good as a solid 50-yard field-goal kick
to the groin of his "hosts". He showed he was tough enough to
outlast those b@$tards.

I believe it’s his shoulders that don’t have the upward motion....and a hand salute really doesn’t require much shoulder movement.

I thought McCain couldn't lift his right arm high enough to salute. Guess I had that wrong. (Shaking head at ignorance)
If you notice his upper arm at the shoulder is stiff, he salutes by bending his elbow more than normal and he leans forward so he doesn't have to raise it so much - probably in a lot of pain too from the look of it... and he is limping - bad knees - something touched on by daughter Meaghan in an interview yesterday - Said because of her dad's bad knees her mom is the one who taught her how to ride a bicycle...
