(The Former Republican Senator) has called vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin a "cocky wacko" and said her selection as John McCain's running mate has energized supporters of Democrat Barack Obama.
(The Former Senator) said her speech at the Republican National Convention had the unintended effect of energizing Democrats and Obama supporters.
"People were coming into my office, phone calls were flooding in, e-mails were coming in, 'I just sent money to Obama, I couldn't sleep last night' .... To see this cocky wacko up there, HA! (the former GOP Senator) said to laughter.

For the record and for overzealous FReepers prone to RINO creep, the man is a real RINO.

Obama is feeling usurped by Palin. Obama is not now the special boy, the favorite, who gets the adoration of the masses and he is hurting. He wants to reclaim his pop star status and stoops to sneaky, immature name calling with the media and Hollywood in attack mode. The right has found a fairy princess in Palin that they have no fear in identifying with. They are proud to be called Republicans now. That Republicans could actually be hockey moms endears them to Palin, after years of Hollywood implying that Left leaning is the norm and what we should be aspiring to as seen in the movies and TV. To hear Matt Damon or Ebert speak on Palin sounds like she is not only unfit for office but is also a wack job. Their model of "coolness" and normalcy must mean that abortions and gay marriage are OK because that is what Hollywood is all about. There is no room on the Democrat's ticket for anything but these progressive positions. And that is part of the problem with conservatives feeling isolated and in the minority for many years. Because of conservative "unprogressivness," they have been led to feel that they are somehow
un-American. America has been associated with the "new," the innovative, having a system of government unlike anything in the history of Europe, on the cutting edge of technology and thought. Now with Palin conservative Americans have their pop star and can feel proud that they are quite sane and normal: that they are hockey moms, and that it is all right to live their lives with God and guns, if they should desire. The Left has been brutal in this respect of creating a mental tyranny, imposing rigid PC codes and defining the values of normalcy. But they are on the defensive now because conservatives too can have their normal hockey mom heroes and can now take pride in identifying in the values of Sara Palin.
For years conservative have been led to feel shameful for being conservatives and now shame and reproach must be leveled at Democrats and their mind police media for their spectacular bias and tawdry tactics

I can't believe some conservatives were happy when this guy defeated Laffey in 2006. Not me. I supported Laffey over the lame objections of keeping "control" of the Senate, and when Laffey went down I was actually hoping Whitehouse would win.

A ‘cocky wacko’?
I say Lincoln Chaffee is a sock cocking sumb!tch, how’s that?
Lincoln Chaffee is what happens when an extra X chromosome attacks and mugs the Y chromosome in utero.
You end up with a limp wristed, RINO POS that is good for nothing except worm food when he finally kicks off.

Ever seen Chaffeee? He has a lot of nerve to call someone else a name much less beautiful conservative Gov. Palin. Go look in the mirror chaffeee and see what you are.
To: johnny7
Amazing, isn't it, that Chafee can support the most liberal Senator in the history of the Senate over one who really, truly is right there in the middle. We always knew he was a Democrat, but it turns out he was a Marxist. He inherited that seat, and had to be a Republican to keep it, but he did everything in his power to work against Republicans while he had it.
And Bush supported him.

Bad analogy, because although the pot is indeed a cocky whacko, among other things, the kettle certainly is not.
