With Obama’s “friend” Kirkpatrick in jail on multiple felonies, Michigan should definitely be in play.

There’s video of Obama praising Kirkpatrick for the change he brought to Detroit — should make for some excellent campaign ads!

Thanks! The internals have been called into question though. I’ll pass on this.

“Just 8 years ago 90% of African Americans voted in Detroit ~ highest turnout in America.”

That can't be right. Some precincts in Philly had over 118% turnout in several important elections.

Well don't ask that's PA-Rendel politics in action

That would be so awesome. Hope that trend continues. That would be 17 electoral votes that the RATS got in 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004 - taken away from them thanks to Obama and his dimwit VP.

Those are his peeps in the 18-35.

No, actually, they're not--when the polling is kept to registered voters. Everyone expects huge numbers of blacks to turn out for 0bama--and they will--but in the older cats.

There has never been a big turnout of young blacks to vote here, even in the cities. On campuses, yes, but that's not a huge number of youth votes.

There is tremendous dislike for Grantheft (governor Jennifer Granholm) of most of the people I know including some liberals. As for King Kwame (soon-to-be-in-jail-ex-mayor of Detroit) - Kwame Kilpatrick...and his commie mommie...congressidiot Carolyn Cheeks-Kilpatrick there is 100% loathing from 100% (NO EXCEPTIONS) of all of the people I know. 60% of life-long ‘rats I know (3 of 5) said they are voting for McCain/Palin. I truly believe Barack DOES NOT HAVE A CHANCE at carrying Michigan.

We shall see.

That would be interesting to analyze. I can tell you that the abortion issue is not a litmus test for me.

Many women who have had an abortion know in their gut that it was wrong, but believe they can make their guilt go away if they can somehow make abortion be 'not wrong'. They are so consumed with guilt that they are positively desperate to achieve that end. Palin and her children (esp. her youngest son and her grandchild) are "John 3:20" toxic to such possessed people. I would expect such levels of desperation to be far more common in somewhat older women than in younger ones.

Heh... thanks grellis. I think we’ve got a shot, here in Michigan, of putting President McCain into office. But me, I’m gonna vote for Obama, because he wants to not raise taxes after all, and enhance revenue instead, and also wants to outlaw gun ownership, but doesn’t want to take guns away. It’s all part of his Muslim faith.

The black vote isn’t all one thing. Also, it’s pretty clear that Obama’s “black” roots are a bit iffy, and he has Arab ancestry as well, and, uh, there’s no love lost there either. :’)

The black vote isn’t all one thing.

Then you should be able to produce multiple polls showing the black vote significantly lower than 90% for Obama. Please ping me if you find them.

it's nice to see a lot of happy people but please, please don't put that much stock in these polls. They'll just adjust the questions until they get polls that consistently show Obama leading. Polls are invented news, a way to manipulate the electorate into participating or not. Remember what happened in 2004?
The momentum will shift once the real media buys start in October and the media will try to convince us that poor showings by Obambi in the headlights during the debates is actually a victory.

In states in which Hispanics are a very small minority (as in MI), it is not rare to see (i) Hispanics voting strongly Republican, as is the case in MD,

Very interesting. Why is this so in Maryland?

I don’t know for sure why it is the case in MD, but remember it to be the case from the 2004 exit polls. I would guess that Hispanics in MD are more likely to be professionals who stayed there after college or who moved there for a job, and that they are not demographically like Hispanic voters in the barrios of large cities where voting Democrat is a tradition. Also, being more affluent, they don’t buy into the welfare mentality that the Democrats are selling.

If I’m not mistaken, the only Hispanic in the MD legislature is Cuban-American state senator Alex X. Mooney from the Frederick area (the frontrunner to replace Roscoe Bartlett in the heavily Republican MD-06 when the 82-year-old Bartlett retires. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_X._Mooney
