Prayers for all the people in the Gulf Coast, especially those in Texas. I pray this storm weakens.

IIRC, Ike went from a Cat 1 to a Cat 4 in 27 hours a week or so back. Let’s just hope he doesn’t get any stronger.

Ike is leaving the deep water in the Gulf...it should not get stronger but does drag ONE hell of a surge with it though...

Talk is now that with the 20 ft surge we could see 50 ft waves

YIKES YIKES double IKE YIKES!!!!!

Landfall is over 24 hours away; TDEM is evacuating to San Antonio, less than 200 miles from the coast, Ike is still a wide, slow, low-wind storm; the biggest concern is water surge and whether it strikes at high tide.

Looks like lots of rain.

Is the Texas coast looking at high tides this weekend? There’s a full moon slated for the 15th. Landfall at 2 AM should mean that it would be at high tide time.

Storm surge of 20 feet on top of a high tide is not good news, especially with those kinds of waves.

Jeez, Galveston was already wiped out by a hurricane in the early 1900s.

Bubba, if that storm track for Ike holds true, most of AK, MO, AR, IL and IN will have to evacuate, as well as half of KY and OK, and a quarter of TX.

It looks like this storm has the potential to do more total damage than Katrina.
