It’s a commonly used expression that was used in a certain context - and said in a certain way, that gave his audience no doubt what he meant.
That is why they started to chant “no pit bull!”

The lipstick thing was also being used as a talking point by other dems.

Everyone remembers Palin’s lipstick comment at the convention.

I’ll tell you what - I’ve heard this expression many times, but when I heard that from Obama - considering the context?
And then I heard “pig”? I immediately recoiled.
And so did many women across america.

BTW - Obama IS mean spirited - and he is also stupid.

Some have said a lot of people use that phrase, which is true. In fact, on TV the other night, they showed several clips of different politicians using the term.

The interesting thing was that, with the exception of Obama, they all phrased it, “If you put lipstick on a pig, it’s still a pig”.

Obama phrased it “If you put lipstick on a pig....................... (wait for crowd reaction) it’s still a pig”.

Because of her pit bull/hockey mom statement, Sarah is identified with “lipstick”, just as Hillary is identified with “pants suit” and Obama with “big ears”.

I believe Obama was playing to his audience. He knew they would pick up on his DOUBLE ENTENDRE .

The “old fish” comment could have been taken as a slam on McCainor a double slam on Palin or both in the fertile minds of Obamamaniacs.

Why would Obama need to refer to both a pig and a fish?

The answer is simple: Most women are innately equipped to be attuned to the “little things,” that a person says or does. Men don’t understand this ability, (most don’t even have it).

I have heard plenty of sarcasm and subtle innuendo in my life. I know the
difference between someone with their foot in their mouth and a remark intended

He meant it on purpose...I’ve heard that phrase all my life, but when I heard him say it, the way he put emphasis on certain words (like lipstick) and then paused in between (as noted for audience reaction), he meant it against Palin.

I’m a woman. We notice these things, because women have had people being snarky to them all our lives. We pick up on tone and meaning, because we learn it on the playground in elementary school. “Oh, I really LIKE your hair!” “Those pants are SO cute. Where DID you get them?” It’s in the surviving Mean Girls 101 book. Obama is one of the mean girls.

Watching Obama’s body language at the World Trade Center, you could see he was trying to upstage McCain. The hand on McCain’s shoulder, as if already in charge. No deference to McCain’s military service and the meaning of why they were there. The arrogance, narcissim, overweening pride. Obama is a worse sociopath than Clinton.
