Battle for Congress Suddenly Looks Competitive

PRINCETON, NJ -- A potential shift in fortunes for the Republicans in Congress is seen in the latest USA Today/Gallup survey, with the Democrats now leading the Republicans by just 3 percentage points, 48% to 45%, in voters' "generic ballot" preferences for Congress. This is down from consistent double-digit Democratic leads seen on this measure over the past year.

In the afterglow of the Republican National Convention, a new USA Today/Gallup poll finds the Democrats with just a 3 percentage-point edge over the Republicans in registered voters’ preferences for Congress, 48% to 45%. This is down from double-digit Democratic leads seen for the past year.

gallup is spinning this number too somewhat. likely voters is what they should be listing and the GOP is up 5 with those. in the end, all races are local but this speaks well for the GOP brand.

I think I would prefer to be down 3 at this point. JMHO.

Seriously, it’s time to call the GOP leadership and demand that they begin promoting some new, young, conservative replacements for some of these worthless, tired, old cronies that have been spending like Dims for the past eight years.

In this poll Gallup shows that among likely voters the GOP is up by 5 points. They're just not talking about it. Their spin is that among registered voters Obama is still up.

Everyone's giving all the credit to Palin and I'm sure she deserves alot but don't forget our GOP members who have been pushing Drill Here, Drill Now. That has resonated with Americans in a huge way.

This is registered voters. The likely voters from Gallup today have Repubs up by 5% over the dems! Gallup, a liberal polling organization, is trying to lessen the damage to the dems by putting the registered info in their piece as the lead story.

Sarah. It’s all Sarah. John showed us why he should be the leader of the free world. This was one gutsy move.

I just checked Rasmussen. McCain up by 6 in Missouri and Rossi has taken the lead for governor in Washington by 6. This is huge.

Next to the brilliant Palin selection, this is the best political news I have seen in months. In my state, I think we have a good shot to get rid of at least one Democratic moonbat in the House (though Sununu’s seat looks vulnerable to a new moonbat, Jeanne Shaheen).

It always bugs me how many people pay attention to just the Presidential race! Determining the overall political outcome for the next Congress (both in the House and in the Senate) is really even more important! If a President John McCain really, seriously plans to pick conservative judges for any to all future federal judicial vacancies, then there must also be enough conservative U.S. Senators to approve of McCain’s judicial choices.

Please, please, please, please, let it be Rossi in November! If Rossi is up by 6, McCain/Palin has to be neck and neck with Obummer in WA state.

McCain says that turnout could be the largest in history. The look on 9% Nancy’s & Harry’s faces on Nov 5th after we take back congress will be “priceless”.

Thanks, Sarah.....

This is true but don't forget to also thank Dirty Harry and her highness Pelosi. They too have given their all to make sure Democrats are on equal footing with their ideological opposites.

We do have a large chance to hold and gain seat in the house and Senate. I don’t think we can gain the majority in either but we can keep them from a bullet proof majority in the Senate and keep it split and also gain house seats. I would lvoe to see Nan and Harry’s face when they find out they aren’t in charge anymore.
