Actually, the boy was 15, as well; it’s not statutory, at least not by any statute I’ve ever seen. My guess is that even if he was 18 that this would still be considered legal, as most states allow a 3-year bumper.

I guess on a second reading that the guy is standing naked on the bed, which could be seen as a threatending posture. But if the daughter was awake and trying to defend her boyfriend, the guy has no excuse to go swinging a lead pipe around.

Something is not right about it.

The boy has committed a felony. It is called statutory rape.

There is no way the father can be convicted when he thought he was chasing a rapist, which in fact he was but a different level than he thought.

The sheriff should be the one in jail, with the boy in the adjacent cell.

A 15 year old doesn't have the right to invite anyone without her parents consent. What the father did was the minimum.

If I went in my daughters bedroom at 4 in the morning after hearing strange noises, and saw a naked male on her bed whom I had never met before my first thought would be that she was in danger and I would do whatever it took to protect her. Sort of a shoot first ask questions later situation.

15 year old boy and 15 year old girl. I think most fathers with any sense would know what was going on. But I can understand his rage at both of them. I certainly would not shoot and kill a boy for having sex with my daughter. Upset - yes; kill - no.

similar situation but involved our wonderful cattle dog. very satisfying. Afterwords, the dog wouldn’t come out from under the table for a full day. But when he needed to, he did what he had to do.
