Ask and you shall receive. I've been absolutely swamped with emails about Palin and her performance last night. There are way too many to clip quotes from, so let me summarize some of the general themes:
A few people thought she absolutely bombed, coming across as totally unprepared. The vast majority, however, gave her a passing grade, though some more enthusiastically than others. Bottom line, the consensus appears to be she a fair job last night, neither acing nor failing her first test with the media.
Many pointed out that she looked a bit nervous, came across as scripted - or disciplined, if you prefer to cast it in more positive terms - but generally held her own and handled herself well in the face of Gibson's questioning.
Speaking of Gibson, some people thought he was fair, while others said he looked like set out to try and make Palin look bad. More than a few what they saw as his condescending attitude - a number described Gibson's demeanor in terms of a snobby professor delivering a pop quiz while looking down his nose at his subject.
What I take away from all of these responses - and thanks very much to all the people who took the time to chime in, by the way - is that last night's interview was a wash.

The clip I saw tonite had her UN-SYNCED....her mouth didn’t match her words! SABOTAGE AT ABC!! VIPERS BROOD!
Did the people who say she “bombed” start their email with, “I’m a Republican who voted for Bush and I’ve got a brother in Iraq...”?
Those who didn't think the media was trying to get her changed their mind. Now they do.
Apparently a lot of those people are old-school feminists.

That is done to repel viewers
Did the people who say she bombed start their email with, Im a Republican who voted for Bush and Ive got a brother in Iraq...?
No, it started like this:
Did the people who say she bombed start their email with, Im a Republican who voted for Reagan,Bush,Bush and I served in Iraq,Vietnam,Korea,WII,WI...?
Noticed the same thing. Was Gibbon’s voice off sync as well? I did not seem to think so.
Bullsh!+ she won the debate, there was no interview.
Charlie Gibsons abush debate, can not be called an interview. Is CG running for VP?
The media lost last night. Another jackass from the E. Coast bit the dust. I wonder what other “journalist” will be fired by next year because of public disgust.
I can tell you, Charlie Gibson will not be a “serious” journalist after this interview. He’ll go down like Rather, Mathews, and Geraldo’s vault.
Civil war, spanish american war, war of 1812, revolutionary war.
Hell, french and indian war! I’m pureblood!
I thought she did great, in spite of Charlie. Way better than Nobama and his um, uh, oh, doh!

The only Ass who “bombed’ would be the “illustrious” Charles Gibson.. what a buffoon.
Hey Charlie..
What is the ‘Bush Doctrine’? Which media named version were you talking about? 1,2,3,4,or possibly even 5?
Do you have ANY clue as to how the North American Treaty Organization works and our duties as a member?
Obviously NOT.!
By the bye , Charlie... Israel is an Independent, Sovereign Nation under daily attack from the Muslim Cult...
DO YOU GET THAT CHARLIE?
BZZZT Times up.. didn’t think so, just checkin’
First of all Governor Palin knows as much about foreign policy, if not more, as Governor Clinton did on September 1992.
And Clinton was running for TOP JOB, while Palin is on ticket as VP. She is a quick study and will know heckuva lot more during McCain’s stint as President.
What is really important is not she knows foreign political trivia at this juncture, but rather how does she perceive is the policy of United States government towards foreign countries. Is it America first or is it world opinion first. Is it American security first or is it world opinion.
Even if McCain makes an untimely exit, Palin will have the best foreign policy team helping her.
That was my take as well.
The only thing she failed to do was reassure those with legitimate concerns about her. She still has plenty of time to do that though.
The debates are going to be huge this year.
Sigh. I have spoken with several Christian Republican, hunter, friends of mine who won't vote for McCain because Palin is a woman. A woman shouldn't be in politics they say, her place is in the home. I told them that Obama would try and take their guns away, but they are very uninformed about politics and don't seem to understand the importance of this election. It as been my experience that many hunters think of gun control as only applying to big city handguns as used by gang bangers, not realizing that their deer rifle is in jeopardy of being confiscated if Obama becomes president.
Sounds like she was doing her job serving the people of Alaska... like she was supposed to.
I love her, but thought she seemed either nervous or unprepared(perhaps both) for the interview. I think she got through it without any real damage done to her, but she sure has some work to do before she faces Biden and the debate moderator(the moderator will also be against her in the debate).
I thin she gave some good answers, but appeared to be scripted and she didn’t seem to be thinking much on her feet. What’s funny is Obama has been much worse than this for many questions asked of him, and in statements. No one in the media ever says a word about his shortcomings. Obama is a walking gaffe machine and gets a total pass.
What I want to get out there is the comparison to the Presidential candidate’s treatment by Charles Gibson.
That Gibson knows the difference between those who can handle hard questions and those who only focus on themselves...why bother asking them questions about foreign relations, and qualifications, when you know they don’t have the depth to answer?

Your father...left and never came back. How did you internalize that?
