This Grandpa is very bad for the environment....very very bad! New F-150 V-8 crew cab to pull the eco unfriendly bass boat to terrorize the bass at Lake Fork. Air Conditioning running at 5am....you know just living the life. Why not???

Didn’t work 40 years to sit on my ass and sweat in a hot house, afraid to drive the truck, cutting coupons....geez””

Good for you and good for lots of the rest of us.

I have a couple of refrigerators that I use daily. They hold my horse medicines and supplies that require refrigeration. I also have a freezer, which I fill about 2 times a year, saving multiple trips to the grocery store.
I keep hearing that each of these units use over $10 a month MORE than one of the new units.
Well, I had an electric bill of $57.22 in late spring. If I remove these 3 units from the bill based on the BS that they are advertising about, then my bill would have been $27.22???

I don’t think so. I am filling water tanks for 6 horses from my well. Plus watering a very few plants at that time of year. If I replace each unit for a price of a minimum of $500 each, that will cost me $1500. Do the math- that means I would have to have the new units over 4 years to replace the money spent. I am almost 70. I live on soc sec. Why would I even think of doing this?
Besides, these punks aren’t remembering the 3 magic words:
They’re paid for!!

This is a terrible article, but I am surprised more of us FReepers don't recognize it for what it is. This article is a variation of the white guilt Obama tries to lay on people so they will vote for him, but in this case it is environmental guilt, future grandchildren guilt.

I mean really it is so obvious, they are terrified of the senior vote and it looks like Obama has definitely lost them(he hasn't lost this senior because he never had me to start with)don't be surprised if you see more of this type of BS.

The truth is that seniors have the most to fear if bozObama gets elected, we will be the first ones put up against the wall and most of us know it. McCain/Palin 08

“What granny and grandpa need to do is sell their assets, rent or buy a nice retirement condo for themselves, and have fun blowing their sniveling, ungrateful grandchildren inheritance having a good time in their golden years.”

Like my mother always said, her will was being of sound mind, I spent it!

I just celebrated my 70th birthday. I signed up for SS at age 66 and slowed up. I only work 40 hrs per week now. Before SS, I was working 70-75 hrs per week. If this author wants me to shrivel up and die, he better come here and tell me in person. We will see who prevails in that confrontation

Good work...more productive at 70 than the kids are at 25, however I am concerned about the methane gas your horses are producing (sarcasm on). Perhaps you could convert your freezers to methane however I would hate to follow the horses around collecting the gas.

Keep it up, the point is we are productive, and for heavens sake these are the things the idiots out there don’t understand. The one thing I don’t want is the government telling me how to live out the rest of my life. I spent 20 years in the Army, and thank God for the opportunity to do so. No one owes me anything, but I damn sure don’t need some mush headed dip to tell me that I need to curb my lifestyle to save the planet. Exxon did more for me today than the feds did, they delivered a tank of gas to the corner. The Government gives me gas...
