Chgo Sun-Times: 'Sarah Palin Makes Me Sick' By Michael M. Bates Created 2008-09-13 12:43

"Palin should be laughingstock to all feminists" [1] is the title of Mary Mitchell's column in today's Chicago Sun-Times. In that calm, detached tone readers have come to expect, Mitchell begins:

Sarah Palin makes me sick. I hate that she was able to steal Barack Obama's mojo just by showing up wearing rimless glasses and a skirt.

I hate that she makes Joe Biden look like John McCain and John McCain look like the maverick he is not.

I hate that Palin reminds me of Susan Sarandon's feisty character in "Thelma & Louise." I loved Sarandon in that movie, yet I couldn't stand Palin's feistiness at the Republican National Convention.

Sarah Palin makes me sick -- not because she may speak in tongues -- but because she is a fast talker.

Not even ABC's Charlie Gibson can slow Palin's mouth.

There's yet another reason Mitchell's feeling nauseated:

Sarah Palin makes me sick because although black Democrats have been responsible for giving white candidates the boost they needed to beat their Republican opponents in tight races, these voters are now being insulted by feminists who say they will cross over into the McCain camp because of her.

So we know Mitchell's primary symptom, but what's the underlying cause? As it turns out, it's an all too common complaint among the many suffering from Palin Derangement Syndrome:

"Frankly, Sarah Palin scares me."

Don't feel lonely, Mary. It's going around these days.

Former New York mayor Ed Koch says of Palin [2], "She scares the hell out of me." Actor Matt Damon calls [3] the GOP vice presidential candidate "terrifying." New Republic editor Noam Scheiber writes [4]:

The reason Palin scares me has more to do with mechanics than demographics: Palin is such a sensation, and draws such large crowds, that anything she says--particularly attacks on Obama--immediately become part of the campaign conversation.

"Rock matriarch" - I guess that's a nice way of putting it - Sharon Osbourne admits [5], "I’m scared of that woman with the glasses and gun! Ugh!" And at a Web site that boasts "the latest in green gossip," we learn that singer Pink [6]"is terrified of Sarah Palin, says she 'hates women.'"

The fear and terror engendered by Sarah Palin among Obamatons make Adrian Monk look like John Wayne. Then again, this could be an opportunity. Over at the official Barack Obama site, there's a group designated Pagans for Obama. [7] Perhaps the campaign could institute a group named Sissies for Obama.

Or would that be redundant?

It’s their unadulterated hate for anyone and anything that does not fit their template. Of course, the hate is amplifed now because they really thought conservatism was dead and Onada would win the White House. We’re gonna see a lot of these tantrums.

I think that the Democrat hate is driven by fear, fear of anyone that doesn’t look like them, or think like them, so...they cling to their celebrities and their environmental extremism.

I just watched a bootleg copy of Path to 9/11. I now know why the Democrats and the Clintons have banned it. With the clear resolve of Sen John McCain for our security and "No Blink" Gov Sarah Palin on the team contrasted against the wimpy approach Barry has taken to those who hate us - sitting down with our enemies - and Joe Biden's ever-errant mouth and defective mind, it would be a landslide victory for the Republicans upon viewing this movie. I feel physically ill after watching it, thinking about the possibility of a Democrat win in November.

Not only remembering the heroism, but irresponsible and criminal acts of those like Jamie Gorelick and Sandy Burglar and the stupidity of Madeline Albright makes me proud, sad, mad, and nauseated all at once.

There is NOTHING....NOTHING presidential about Barry. I could not contemplate Barry making decisions (with Joe) if we were attacked again under their watch. I am quite scared of who Barry would have as his cabinet members, and terrified of who is in his 'kitchen cabinet'.

I think, because they dominate the media and the entertainment industry, the urban centers believe that their culture, values and world view are the norm - middle of the road. The popularity of Palin confronts them with the reality that the majority of the population does not share their world reality.(I know, on the rare occasion I tune into a network morning show, it is like a foreign land. It really strikes me how different they are. When I see a comedic roast, I am truly shocked by the language.)

I think they are shocked that we are standing up for ourselves and asserting strong support for our traditional culture. We are still clinging to our guns and Bibles, but we aren’t bitter. We are realizing that we could be triumphant and so are they.

Palin is such a sensation, and draws such large crowds, that anything she says--particularly attacks on Obama--immediately become part of the campaign conversation.

Of course! The role of massive-crowd-drawer and campaign-conversation-starter of course belongs to the Obamassiah. Silly, backwoods, gun-hugging, religion-clinging, knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing Rethuglicans!

The hate of the Left will destroy them, and their families. Hatred consumes you. I do not hate Obama. He is probably a likeable enough guy to snort some blow with. But he is totally incompetent and is so indecisive he would make Jimmy Carter look like Winston Churchill.
