First US-Mex fence: fewer migrants, more violence

TIJUANA, Mexico -- There is a moment each evening, as the sun melts into the Pacific, when Colonia Libertad is at peace....but it is only a moment. The floodlights click on, bathing the neighborhood in a blinding light. The helicopters return, clattering past. And the smugglers arrive with their ladders and blow torches and groups of people desperate to escape a fate similar to the one residents of Colonia Libertad long ago accepted.

Oh, dear. I have done my reading. All you have done is look at pictures. Those “railroad ties” of yours are made of steel and are anchored by a concrete base that goes down into the ground 10 or 12 feet. It is called a Normandy barrier because it was designed to turn back tanks. It is built in places where the Border Patrol’s primary concern is vehicles bringing drugs, not foot traffic. I notice the guy who talked to the border chief doesn’t give the border chief’s name. Hmmmm. Could it be he made it all up? Could it be that no matter what anyone does, it isn’t good enough, because you are so much smarter than the rest of us? I don’t know about the mileage. But at least someone is doing something, someone is trying to accomplish something, while other people just sit back and bitch.

From post thirty seven: not my post and the information is from Duncan hunters office. So believe what you wish.

February 11, 2008

...Although the authority of the secretary of Homeland Security to build a fence along the border has not been rescinded, it has been made clear that most of the new fence will be single-layered and extend no more than 370 miles. During the past year, for instance, only 77 miles of fencing has been built, of which five miles is double-layered.

I haven't had to wade through a swamp of bile like this in a coon's age (that's about twelve to fourteen years depending on the raccoon's environment, health, genetics...)

This article had some news hidden in it:

(Smugglers) have built more than two dozen tunnels under the border since 1994.

Drug runners have taken to the mountains, using blowtorches to cut large doors in the fence and then taking four-wheel-drive vehicles across the rugged terrain.

And this charming nugget:

Most of her neighbors are upper-class Mexicans driven north by a wave of kidnappings and drug violence south of the border.

LOL Sort of makes me wonder if she's happy those grubby, rights-claiming American rabble have gone elsewhere and how that Living Under A Thug thing is turning out. If a people, as a purposely self-segrated entity, continue to stand up for their corrupt and screwed up country like Mexican people here (in all their various guises and a few actually legitimate) could show some appreciation for us by voting for McCain, having garnered the credentials. Legitimately.)

I believe that most Americans of Latino/Hispanic/Whatever descent will always vote for their self-preservation over the interests of whatever nation they hailed from...many of whom would kiss the ground if you dared to ask them to. Great Americans come in all colors as do it's detractors and those taking advantage of our good will.

It's not hard for the spoiled and corrupted to accept. Just ask Al G. how it went down when the Clintons had a Citizenship Sale in an Arizonan stadium. They had to turn back applicants when the workers became exhausted. Some sources cite they eased close to five-hundred thousand into citizenship in that one pop. Fortunately for Bill Monica was still entertaining First Lady fantasies while helping keep him calm during a few missile firings at countries he was being told were threatening us. Yet he still shows up in public.

I realize that more than one reporter contributed to this article. To the one who one who imparted real news despite being knuckled under by a weasel; thank you.

3AngelaD: Keep asking good questions. Some people ARE trying to accomplish something good while others work against them wherever they can (*cough*state department*cough). I say let the truth speak for itself.
