It’s a McCain add, that means no one to blame but McCain himself.

I think McCain is being proactive and taking away Obama’s biggest weapon.

How does this take away Obama's biggest weapon?

I could have sworn I saw something here on FR that said that Bill Clinton told Obama to start talking about McCain and immigration in order to divide up the conservative base which would offset the Palin support and enthusiasm.

Does anyone else remember reading that?

Yes.

And all this ad does is plant a seed of doubt in Hispanics who are not in the base, are voters (citizens), and pro Life, but facing peer pressure to vote Dem.

That’s all it’s intended to do, and it’s in Spanish and was not intended for the base.

Palin shores up the base. It's all about the independents and moderates now. There will be some teeth-grinding on our side if you follow this stuff closely.

On the flip side, Barry is still trying to shore up his base. First, it's not nailed down. Second, he has to beg them for record quantities of money because he didn't take federal financing.

“Read the thread about Barone’s piece on McCain getting inside Obama’s OODA loop. Then go back and look at this in that context.”

If GOP claims mantle of being better at natinal security, that means they know how-to-do warfare.

This election IS warfare, in a sense. Chaos is our friend.

Observe, orient, decide, act (from Barone article cited).

Choose and prepare the battlefield. Know your enemy.

Daily news cycle. Define your opponent. Sway undecideds. Motivate your own voters to vote. Etc.

Nov. 4 is very important.

Immigration would be Obama’s weapon to divide the conservatives. One of the biggest reasons why McCain is doing so well is because he has solidified his base due to Palin.

Mind you, I am going off of something I read here on FR and I thought it was classic Clinton.

I’m the idiot? Am I the one putting out ads reminding people I’m soft on illegal immigration?

No you would be an idiot to help elect the one who is for full blown illegal immigration, i.e. Barack Obama. The choice at this point is "A" or "B". Sticking your head in the sand like an ostrich will not give you a choice "C".

Exactly. So why is McCain the one bringing it up? All this is doing is saving Obama money.

Barry has had two weeks spent on the political defensive and from the way his campaign is going they're in a near-panic in trying to get back onto offense.

McCain just executed a flanking maneuver with this ad. It's a VERY risky move because he's trusting that the Palin pick has shored up the GOP base enough to allow him to strike out at a critical Obama constituency (I think Obama now HAS to respond, defensively, to this move) without risk that his center is going to fold up as a result.

Just when I was beginning to think I could tolerate the guy. What? does he like malaise or something? Can we just switch him and Palin now? By the way, has anybody heard where SHE stands on this issue?

No, there are still a lot of dopes who would snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

“Obama and his congressional allies say they are on the side of immigrants. But are they?” asks the announcer in the 30-second spot, “Which Side Are They On?”

I wish that somebody would get on America's side on this issue.

The Hispanic vote went for Hillary in the primaries and McCain definitely earned the right to court their vote. He’s done way more for the Hispanic community in 26 years as an Arizona Representative / Senator than Barack Obama ever did for anyone. The fact that the Spanish-language channels didn’t even carry his acceptance speech is a complete slap in the face to the Hispanic community.

Number one would be the genius who decided to remind people how pissed they are over the immigration issue and who they're pissed at.

Well, at least Palin’s skirt tales seem to be extending to congress. So there may be enough decent people to keep McCain at bay for 4 years.

You make it sound like some dirty magazines found in daddy's bottom drawer.

Of course we know he's just pandering and really doesn't believe in amnesty. Yeah, right.

I'd like to know what else he doesn't want the base to hear.

Exactly why this is not the time to go stupid and start straining at gnats.
