I have to admit I’m totally confused now. Did she or did she not cross the border and go into Iraq? This is crazy. Probably some staffer from Palin completely screwed up the story to the press.
Here is your answer from the article:
"While she was there she traveled to the K Crossing on the Kuwait-Iraq border, and a quarter mile into Iraq.
According to the General who traveled with her, while she was there she presided over a re-enlistment ceremony of an Alaskan National Guard soldier."
There was no misunderstanding, Palin always said her itinerary was going to Kuwait to visit HER troops and Germany to visit the injured warriors. For full disclosure she included Ireland for refueling. There was no staffer. The media is just trying to make up a lie that was never there and was due to their own misinterpretation and desire to bring down Palin.
In other words, they made up a lie and now are accusing Palin of lying.
Anyone can play the tape back on any of her speeches and she always stated the same travels.
She was a quarter mile INSIDE Iraq. To get INSIDE a country you must cross it's border, yes?
Since the general says she was in Iraq to oversee a reenlistment ceremony so I'd say that's it: "Case closed. She was in Iraq."
How quick you were to assume a staffer for Palin screwed up.
