Palin’s ‘pit bull’ line is dog of GOP convention
Kansas City Star ^ | 9/14/08 | RHONDA CHRISS LOKEMAN

Posted on 09/13/2008 10:11:08 PM PDT by DallasBiff

No matter what the Republican revisionists say, history will record that it was not a Democratic man who threw the live grenade of sexism into a crowded national political convention in 2008. It was a Republican woman.

It was Gov. Sarah Palin, John McCain’s impetuous pick to be his vice president.

In an otherwise punchy acceptance speech by a relative unknown, Gov. Palin chose to mar her big moment with a wink, a smile and a pox on all her sisters’ houses.

Thanks to her and the rowdies at the GOP national convention, we finally have the answer to that metaphysical riddle: “Who let the dogs out?” Some of us have been losing sleep over that one. Well, that and why community organizers have become the Willie Hortons and welfare moms of this election cycle.

Palin’s “pit bull with lipstick” line surely will go down in history — if not the Feminism Hall of Shame — as one of the dumbest things a trailblazing smart woman ever said in public on this side of Stepford.

My wife has started reading FR everyday, and becoming aware of the events. That said, this writer does not associate with Americans who have childrenand lives. That broad is as bad as Randi Rhode-hard-and-put-away-wet-s.

Rhonda is wrong, obviously. Here is Bill Kristol with the story, two days before Sarah’s speech. I also heard him mention this story on Fox the day before the speech.

McCain aides whose judgment I trust are impressed by Sarah Palin. One was particularly amused by this exchange: A nervous young McCain staffer took it upon himself to explain to Palin the facts of life in a national campaign, the intense scrutiny she’d be under from the media, the viciousness of the assault that she’d be facing, etc.:
Palin: “Thanks for the warning. By the way, do you know what they say the difference is between a hockey mom and a Pit Bull?”
McCain aide: “No, Governor.”
Palin: “A hockey mom wears lipstick.”

I’m sorry, but I don’t think “bitch” is a sexist word, unless having seperate insults for men and women can be demonstrated to me to be inherently sexist. I say it isn’t, because insults for males and females can be seperate but equal, just like bathrooms.

Can’t be a true feminist; looks a little to coquette-ish.

I wonder why libs persist stepping on that rake over and over again. They twist themselves into a knot just to continue doing it. It's all now Palin’s fault... Not Bush's?! What about Halliburton and Cheney? Looks like each next derangement syndrome is more severe than the previous one.

They're scared to death and can only throw out insults. If that's the best they can do, I can sleep til November. I'm confident there's nothing they can do to affect the outcome.

Honestly, I hope they keep it up. They have alienated my highly DhimmocRAT wife and Mother-in-Law into voting R for the first time in their life’s.

If they are having that kind of effect on a couple of old line union members .... think about what they must be doing to semi-rational women.

That’s the way I read it. “She started it.” Therefore, anything that Obama or his staff say after that is justifiable. Must be a ghetto thang.

A day or two before her speech, I heard Rush mention that she’d said that to someone, too.

I do as well, there will be some surprises on Election Day, as in a quite army of women who show up and vote Palin.

Obama opened the door, McCain escorted Sarah P through it.

Au contraire! Gov. Palin is a genious for using the “pit bull with lipstick” line. Pit bulls strike fear in the minds of many who hear the term, just the mention stops you in your tracks. Now normally, the other side (Obama/Biden) might try to do her one better by saying “we’re stronger pit bulls!”. But she attached the lipstick to the phrase, pre-empting the men from use of the line. Got everyone to stop in their tracks for a minute and digest the meaning of the line. And reinforced her as a strong contender. Rather than being sexist, the lipstick/pit-bull phrase tore down barriers to women. Brilliant.
