I don’t think this McCain = Bush line is working for him. For one thing, I don’t think George Bush is nearly as unpopular as Obama thinks he is. Also, McCain is clearly different from Bush.... although I’m not sure that’s entirely a good thing.

I’m in agreement. His ‘low’ rating is, in my opinion, largely be based on the area polled. Could be SanFran or NYC or even DC.

I think you're exactly right. As many point out, leftists live in an isolated world where they and all their friends hate George Bush. Really hate him. The leftist media perpetuates this hate and slants every story with it. They THINK that their polls show a wide hatred of Bush across the country. Because of this relentless onslaught of hatred, most people who do like Bush and what he's done in the war on terror won't admit it to pollsters or to anyone they know disagrees but it will turn into an argument. So in reality there's a lot of support for Bush.

IMHO, when Obama is talking about Bush, my mind is thinking but Bush isn’t running, what on earth is he talking about here.

When the alternative is a USA with a President Barack Obama...how could it be anything else but an "entirely good thing"?

Cheers!

McCain=Presidential - that's the first thing that comes to mind when you say someone's like the sitting president. Now, Obama=Pelosi - that I can see... I suppose this viewpoint is slightly tilted by the fact that congress’ approval rating is abysmal.

Good point — while President Bush is hated with derangement by the left, a good chunk of the decline in his approval ratings came from people like many here on FR who wanted him to be more like Sarah Palin, not more like Obama!!!

There are probably ‘only’ somewhere in the range of 30% who really hate Pres. Bush, then probably around 20% in the center who simply wanted the admin. to be more effective.... more effective in prosecuting the war (what turned a lot of people against it were the weak sisters who let the MSM make them think it was a permanent quagmire, when now some kind of victory is clearly in sight).

McCain/Palin certainly have the potential to approach 60% in the general election, although I’ll settle for winning the Electoral College. A landslide would be wonderful, especially if it has coattails/skirttails for Congress. But winning the WH is looking more and more likely.
