McCain doesn’t need to hit back harder like 0bama is doing now, but instead hit back smarter.
You’re right! After everything going on....everything...we are STILL in the leading and gaining ground. We will win and they will revolt. They are revolting. McCain was off balance today but I think a lot of it was the onslaught...and he probably did a great job of handling things...but look at what we get to see from the campaign trail. I have faith and I think most voters are waiting until the debates to really move states into our column, for good. I watched the campaigning (as much as I could stomach today) of O and Biden. They are just stumping in negativism....and when you watch Palin...it is truly a feeling of care and love of country. Of course, you always feel the safety, I think, in McCain. We will win....

The current round of polls had me feeling pretty good. It’s the next round that I fear will reflect a halting of momentum or even a reversal that has me worried.
By the way, that reminds me of a great ad McCain should be running (but isn’t):
0bama’s various evolving statements on Georgia should be shown, with the first one saying “Take 1”, the second saying “Take 2”, the third saying “Take 3”, and then finishing the ad saying, “when you’re president, there are no do-overs. Barack 0bama. Not ready to lead.”

Don’t worry, the next poll numbers will only be better for us. Palin is a phenomenon, and she will negate all but the very worst gaffes McCain could make. And you can sleep well knowing that McCain has some smart people working on some good ads for him, and who knows, one may highlight Obama’s “not ready for prime time” reaction to the Russian invasion. Obama, and Biden even more, are the gifts that keep on giving when it comes to showing the one’s inexperience and the other’s sheer obliviousness and tone-deafness. How else could they dare to mock a POW with disabilities from his torture for his problems with using a keyboard? America should hope that’s McCain’s worst weakness. Obama’s are where it matters-see “Russia and the UN Security Council”. That kind of mistake is easy for everyday Americans to grasp, and hurts where it matters-weakness on national security.
Sorry, I am wary of such pessimism based on so little, that’s all. (I won’t believe you until I see your McCain/Palin bumper sticker signed in your blood, and your Palin doll-j/k!)

Anyways, I’ve been solidly behind McCain since he wrapped up the nomination, even though he wasn’t my 1st choice or my 2nd (he was my 3rd).
I do now believe that McCain was the right candidate for this election, and I’m glad he beat my first 2 choices (Fred Thompson, Mitt Romney).
I’ve been beating back the unappeasables, RuPaul and Bob Barf supporters, Keyesters, and anyone else disparaging McCain (and that was all BEFORE he picked Sarah Palin.)
There is a difference between being critical of missteps by the candidate, and being against the candidate. I don’t call John McCain names, assault his character or his record, accuse him of being a RINO, etc. I won’t pretend everything is great when it’s not though. I took a lot of heat from other Thompson supporters for doing just that back at the beginning of the year. They also accused me of having it out for him simply because I wasn’t living in a state of denial over the state of his campaign like everyone else was. There were actually people saying “Yes, he’s 20 points down in the polls, which is just where he wants to be — laying low for a sneak attack! He’s just running silent and deep! Everything is going according to plan, because Fred Thompson doesn’t take a dump without having a plan!”
But McCain/Palin aren’t behind in the polls, and I can’t believe that one day will destroy their strong momentum.
Would this be called a Denny Crane moment?
0bama has made plenty of comments that shows he is out of touch with ordinary Americans, that he just doesn’t get what America is all about (like the way he said today that McCain’s ‘outrage’ at Wall Street would have more credibility if McCain didn’t want to cut capital gains tax — in otherwords, 0bama sees taxation as punishment, not revenue collection, wants to punish investors for pursuing profits, and shrugs off the negative impact on the economy).
But while he demonstrates every day that he is out of touch, he would never admit it directly in a neatly packaged soundbite, as McCain seemed to do the other day. I just want McCain to stop doing stuff like that.
