Great photos of Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Vice President Dick Cheney. The Vice President looks a little tired in the last photo, though. God bless both of them.

Thanks, for the dose.

I was wondering if we did any substantial business with Ghana and then remembered that I’d shown 2 videos from the World Bank on tech projects in Ghana to my Policy class.

It looks like they are really embracing information technology as a way to increased trade and improving jobs and education. They are even creating their own educational software in which the characters speak English with a Ghanaian accent. It was interesting to hear one of the teachers say that Ghanaian children were computer crazy and wanted to do everything on the computer - and this in a place that has unstable electricity and net access!

In the prior government, people had jobs guaranteed by the government, but no real work; you didn’t have to produce. Now with more capitalism, they are working hard to be competitive in trade and to have real jobs; no more getting paid for sitting around!

Yes I noticed that Kas, coming from a country where we do not do that I tend to notice that immediately. How long has it been custom in the States to do that was it from the beginning?

Thanks for the links, interesting guest list for impression on the US visitors seems to be kept very non political even to Elaine Chao not with her husband but her father.

Another interesting one I noticed that Liz accompanied the VP not Lynne seeing as Lynne was on FNC last night promoting her new book I suspect that she probably is not in Washington DC at present.

Another interesting name on the guest list in the respect of her actual name cannot imagine a parent naming someone this.

Ms. British Robinson, Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator, Department of State

Now will go and study menu and no doubt ask questions on that.

As I suspected yes I do have a couple of questions on the menu.

Late summer corn pudding, I presume possibly incorrectly is this a cold milk pudding made with eiher corn what we would call maize in Britain similar to a ground rice, semolina or tapioca pudding which in Britain can be served hot or cold.

Also “Roasted Red, Gold and White Baby Beets” is that beetroot if so I have never seen anything other than the deep red/purple colour. Or is it some other sort of beet?
