Inbox: McCain's War on the Media at Work (Newsweek Journo Whines About Nastygrams, Blames McCain)
Newsweek ^ | Tuesday, September 16, 2008 | Andrew Romano

Posted on 09/16/2008 3:59:59 PM PDT by kristinn

Around 12:30 this afternoon, I posted an item here on Stumper called "Palin's Favorability Ratings Begin to Falter." It was a relatively straightforward bit of analysis. Taking my numbers from the only poll to track daily favorability ratings for each presidential and vice-presidential candidate--Diageo/Hotline--I pointed out that Palin's approval stats had undergone a net swing of -10 points since peaking last week. "It's the start of an inevitable process," I wrote. "Between now and Nov. 4, voters will stop seeing Palin as a fascinating story and starting taking her measure as an actual candidate for office. Some will approve; some won't... But it's hard to argue that the journey from intriguing new superstar to earthbound politician--a necessary part of the process--doesn't involve a loss of altitude. Just ask Barack Obama." About two hours later, the article was picked up on MSNBC; shortly thereafter, it made the MSN homepage.

And that's when the email began.

Since 2:30 this afternoon, I have received 170 emails. 120 or so have been about the Palin piece. At least 115 have been negative in tone--and maybe one or two of these negative messages included anything resembling a logical, point-by-point rebuttal of my analysis. Instead, 99 percent of them were personal attacks on me--mostly for being a "biased liberal jerk" (although a lot of people go after my age as well).

SNIP

Nothing we report can be true, they say, because we're all out to get her. Judging by my inbox, the effort has struck a nerve. I thought it'd be worthwhile to provide you guys with frontline glimpse at McCain's war on the MSM, courtesy of some of today's most colorful messages:

3:52 p.m.: You and all the other Libs only wish that were the case. Just because you say it, doesn't make it so!

Grow up Andrew, and stop whining. And don't blame this on McCain, blame it Spiro Agnew.

waaaah...poor Andrew.

Of course he did not defend his stance. Or give facts to show he wrote the article correctly. I would like to direct him to some of the liberal rants posted and show him that he really got off lightly.

So, Andrew, in what polls precisely have her negatives swung -10 points? Will you be doing any articles in the near future about Obama’s negatives coming to light.

And yes, we DO believe that the Drive-by media, including YOU, are out to “get” Sarah Palin. You trump up Troopergate as if it were the Iran/Contra affair, print complete and utter lies about the woman as if they were based in fact.

When, for instance, will you and the rest of the Drive-by media hit Obama with his apparent violation of the Logan Act in conducting U.S. foreign policy with heads of state? Will you be asking him why he believed he had the right to press the commander of the Iraqi forces for a timetable? He wasn’t Commander in Chief. He went to a foreign country an belittled a sitting President of the United States.

No, we won’t see that story. But if Bush 41 had done it to Clinton during Bosnia, you’d have led with the story five nights straight.

Yes, you’re biased. Have been. Always will be. And if you don’t like the personal attacks, Andrew, then I suggest you call the folks at Daily KOS for a hug.

Grow up Andrew, and stop whining.

This is the 3rd or 4th lefty-article authored by this Andrew Romano character in just a few days. I'm curious, does Newsweek still have a large circulation? Surely people have identified it for the liberal rag that it is.

Romano and his MSM buddies can dish it out but they can’t take it.

They report the most vile lies about Governor Palin (and President Bush too) but when they get criticized they cry and claim it’s unfair. They would have a breakdown if they had to put up with one percent of negative comments that Palin or Bush have received during their careers.

Don't blame it on us! Yours is the only business that tells a customer he's wrong and that he should get more of what offends him! They don't get it in the MSM!

Given the media’s war on their former hero, McCain, I have no sympathy for them

Hey Andi, if I didn’t believe your first article why do you think I would believe this one?
