Abortion Survivor Takes Obama to Task Over Born Alive Infants Protection Act in New Ad

September 16, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - BornAliveTruth.org has produced a video ad in which abortion survivor Gianna Jessen questions Barack Obama for his active opposition as state senator to the Illinois Born Alive Infants Protection Act.

"Can you imagine not giving babies their basic human rights, no matter how they entered our world?" begins the ad. "My name is Gianna Jessen, born 31 years ago after a failed abortion. I'm a survivor, as are many others…but if Barack Obama had his way, I wouldn't be here."

"Unfortunately, Barack Obama voted four times against affording these babies their most basic human right. I have serious concerns about Senator Obama's record and views on this issue, given he voted against these protections four times as a state Senator. Just as abuse victims share their stories to educate the public, fight for the common good and hope that as a result politicians do what's right, I felt it was important to come forward and give these newborn babies a voice."

"I am living proof these babies have a right to live, and I invite you to learn more about Senator Obama's record on this important issue."

Gianna was "aborted" 31 years ago by her 17-year-old mother by a saline injection abortion procedure. Though she suffers from cerebral palsy because of the abortion attempt, Gianna has gone on to lead an active and productive life and has become a vocal advocate against abortion, testifying before the US Congress hearings on the federal Born Alive Infants Protection Act in 2001.

The BAIPA protects children who survive a failed abortion from infanticide.

The BornAliveTruth ad hopes to expose voters not only to Obama's opposition to the Illinois state version of the Born Alive Infants Protection Act, but to his subsequent misrepresentation of the position he took while he was an Illinois state senator. Douglas Johnson, Legislative Director of the National Right to Life Committee in Washington, D.C., commenting on Obama's effort to cover up his record on the BAIPA, said, "On August 11, 2008, the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC) released recently uncovered documents that proved that Obama had misrepresented the state bill. When Obama was asked about our assertion in a televised interview on August 16, 2008, he said (three times) that we were 'lying.' After an investigation, Annenberg's independent FactCheck.org concluded: 'Obama's claim is wrong . . . The documents from NRLC support the group's claims that Obama is misrepresenting the contents of SB 1082 [the 2003 Illinois Born-Alive Infants Protection Act].'"

"Barack Obama has made some very important points in his speeches, particularly his speech about fatherhood, but there is a disconnect between what he is saying and the political positions he has taken," FRC President Tony Perkins told The New York Times. "If he is going to be pro-family, he has got to be pro-family."

Ms. Jessen's life is a miraculous one that is very inspiring.

I am thankful that God has sent her to us to remind Americans that the unborn and aborted have a beating heart and functional brain.

She is in keeping with Saint Paul the Apostle because she fights the good fight, keeps the Faith and will finish the race.

I saw her at a talk at a pro-life banquet. There were no evidence of external scars. But she did have physical problems because of the Saline Abortion. I do not remember some of the technical terms.

But Saline abortions are some of the most horrible abortions to survive, from what I understand...

I think she has celebral palsy from the abortion, but I am not sure... Would have to check on that...

Among many creepy things, this one has a special place. Obama's "explanation" of his vote is incredibly cruel and lacking in any vestige of empathy. It is psychopathic (in the clinical sense of the word) in my opinion.

Gianna Jessen claims she met her biological mother. Some woman came over to her at one of her appearances and said to her, in a Darth Vader voice, "Gianna, I am your mother!" then went into a wild, crazed screechy rant. Gianna was so shocked that all she could do was whisper, "I forgive you, I forgive you."

I don't believe this woman was even her real birth mother. I think she was just some random Code Pink type who wanted to make a scene.
