Aafia Siddiqui is believed to be an al-Qaeda operative. Among the documents in her possession were handwritten notes referring to a mass-casualty attack listing locations commonly known to be targets: Wall Street, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Statue of Liberty, and the Empire State Building. But one target, Plum Island, remains virtually unknown to the American public. If Siddiqui really is an al-Qaeda operative, the consideration that this government facility (officially known as the Plum Island Animal Disease Research Center) is a target is unnerving....

Plum Island was the first of many Nelson DeMille books I've read and still one of my favorites. I'm not sure how accurate his description of the island is but it was the first time I had heard of it and it was fascinating to me.

“Gold Coast” is my favorite. Do yourself a favor and stay away from “Wildfire.”

Didn’t Clarice Starling offer property on Plum Island to Hannibal Lecter in order to secure his help in capturing Buffalo Bob?

“Nightfall” was my favorite; it had a real sucker-punch of an ending. “Mayday” was a great book as well.

I totally agree, Gold Coast was the best. The sequel to it is due out in Oct IIRC. I did NOT like Wildfire either.

I thought Nightfall was great. I'm not sure if I've read Mayday yet or not. I have a shelf full of his books that I'm getting to over time.

I go deep sea fishing off Plum Island. It doesn’t look like it’s well protected but looks might be deceiving. I hope the security is tighter then it looks because they have some nasty germs on that island.

Completely agree. DeMille is one of my favorites. I’m going to get Gold Coast and read it again. As a teenager my friends and I became well acquainted with a Mob family ,on L.I., the book brings back memories.
