Yes, that would be disgustingly frightful to conservatives. Liberals would have kept the spider (PETA response), licked the blood and eat the maggots to save Mother Gaia.

Those who were less startled by threatening images and noises were more likely to favor foreign aid, liberal immigration policies, pacifism and gun control.
I think it's more likely you are frightened because you are conservative. This world is a dangerous place (noöne ever survives it): conservatives know this and are prepared to react to perceived dangers.
However many of the dangers have been contained. This has made it a safer place and allowed naive, trusting people to ignore these dangers and still survive.
This allows them to advance progressive views of Hope and Change and become the new danger. Thus the Great Wheel of Life continues.
Maybe the conservatives weren't stoned during the tests.
That still doesn't mean that their interpretation bears any relationship to reality.
I have my own psuedoscientific theory about why liberals cannot be persuaded by facts and logic. They're butts.
In the Soviet union, opponents of the regime were often declared insane, and put into asylums. Kommissar Obama and his minions are trying to do the same thing..

A threat, be definition, expresses intent. Now we know what makes demmies unable to react to a threat. They do not see it as a threat—if you get my meaning. When someone threatens a dems life, they just yuk it up and look the other way. “Whoaaaa”, thinks the little demmie, “don’t want to deal with that. I think I’ll just look the other way. That’ll make it go away”.
A guaranteed steaming pile.
