Democratic vice presidential nominee Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware sent a stern message to his boss, Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois to keep his hands off Biden's guns.
As reported by ABC News and Fox News this afternoon, Biden was trying to reassure rural Virginia voters that they have nothing to fear about losing their Second Amendment rights under an Obama administration.
From ABC:"I guarantee you Barack Obama ain't taking my shotguns, so don't buy that malarkey," Biden said Saturday at the United Mine Workers of America's annual fish fry in Castlewood, Virginia. "Don't buy that malarkey. They're going to start peddling that to you."
Biden told the crowd that he himself is a gun owner. "I got two," Biden said, "if he tries to fool with my Beretta, he's got a problem. I like that little over and under, you know? I'm not bad with it. So give me a break. Give me a break."
From Fox:
Biden has said he doesnt hunt, but shoots skeet with the two shotguns. I like that little over and under, you know? Im not bad with it, he said today.
Just like fellow Democrats Edward Kennedy, Charles Schumer and Dianne Feinstein, Biden has voted for, and actively pushed, major anti-gun bills, including these:
Banning semi-automatic firearms;
Banning hunting, sporting and self-defense ammunition;
Banning magazines holding more than 10 rounds; and
Imposing a waiting period on handgun sales.
Biden also voted against the law that prohibits lawsuits designed to bankrupt law-abiding firearm manufacturers and dealers. And he voted against the confirmation of Supreme Court Justices who support the Second Amendment, and voted for the confirmation of Justices who do not.
The Brady Campaign sums it up in a straightforward fashion: “Senator Biden has been a consistent supporter of the Brady Campaign.” According to the gun prohibition activist group, “Senator Biden was a key player in the fight for the federal assault weapons ban that passed in 1994. He also worked hard for passage of the Brady Law (sic).”
To hear Biden tell it, though, that’s only half the story. Last year, during a debate with Obama, Sen. Hillary Clinton, and other contenders for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination, Biden said, “I’m the guy who originally wrote the assault weapons ban.”
though Sens. Howard Metzenbaum (D-OH) and Dennis DeConcini (D-AZ) had authored earlier bills, Biden introduced an “assault weapons” ban in Congress five years before the Clinton gun and magazine ban was imposed. In 1989, a Biden bill (S. 1970) proposed to ban the Colt AR-15 and eight similar firearms as “assault weapons,” and authorize the Secretary of the Treasury (in reality, the then Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) and the Attorney General to recommend to Congress any other firearms, regardless of type, to be banned as “additional assault weapons.”
To this day, Biden doesn’t merely support a ban on “assault weapons” and standard-capacity magazines holding more than 10 rounds, he actively pushes it. In the current Congress, another Biden bill (S. 2237) proposes to renew the Clinton ban on roughly 200 makes and models of semi-automatic rifles, shotguns, and handguns on the basis of things like the shape of their grips, and on ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds, regardless of the kind of firearm in which they are used.
Senator Obama’s Choice, Joe Biden, a Good One for Gun Violence Reduction, Says Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence
Aug 25, 2008
The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence praised Senator Barack Obama’s choice for his vice presidential running mate, Senator Joe Biden.
“Joe Biden is a straight talker about the need for common sense laws to keep dangerous people from getting dangerous weapons,” said Paul Helmke, President of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. “He has been a solid advocate for sensible gun laws that protect our police officers and our families. I was proud to stand with him just weeks ago in Philadelphia when he joined with our nation’s mayors in supporting tough crime fighting laws, and also last year when police leaders urged passage of common sense measures to protect law enforcement officers. Our nation would be well served with Joe Biden as our Vice President.”
During a Democratic Presidential debate on CNN, Senator Biden expressed concern about a man who submitted a video question asking whether the candidates would protect his “baby,” a fully loaded semiautomatic assault rifle. Senator Biden said “If that’s his baby, he needs help.”
Then he went on to say, “We should be working with law enforcement right now to make sure that we protect people against people who are not capable of knowing what to do with a gun because they are either mentally imbalanced and/or they have a criminal record.”
Senator Biden has a comprehensive crime bill awaiting action in the Senate (S. 2237) that would require background checks on all sales at gun shows and reauthorize the now-expired federal ban on military-style assault weapons.

Almost none of the “gun-grabbers” go after shotguns, until after they have all the handguns and semi-automatics.
Thats true. Also, remember the youtube debate where he basically called a gun owner nuts.

I just wish Joe would come by to take mine away.
So he owns guns, he just doesn’t want anyone else to be able to own them (more or less).
Has anybody verified that old Joe owns guns for real?
The classic of elitism was at a food stop when Teresa Kerry had to ask what chili was.
Depends on what model it is. Own several, and use them mainly for registered skeet. Have a nice little Grade VI Browning O/U 20 ga. that I bird hunt with.
Me too. Out in Western Augusta County, they seem to be gettin thicker than ticks on a hound. Did see a couple of Obambi yard signs that got squished.....had to giggle.....hoped it wasn’t my son that did it!!
A Schmidt-idea ping for post #35!
Hussein Obama (GOA F rating) will not “take our shotguns”.
But if given the opportunity, he will sign into law bill(s) which would require that shotguns be:
- trigger locked
- stored at a “gun club”
- licensed
- registered
- limited to 2 rounds
- not usable for self-defense
etc.
BUMP FOR SCHMIDT STORM !!!

No specific information on the firearm is transmitted to the FDLE when the background check is done. All of the personal information is deleted after the call in check is completed. Because the Form 4473 remains with the dealer only he has the all of the specifics on the transaction. It is illegal for any State or local authority in Florida to maintain a list of firearm owners.
I gave up on the human tampon called Drudge.
