SFGate ^ | Sep 21, 2008 | Joe Garofoli

Post-convention swing state polls are tipping toward Sen. John McCain, the TV pundits are waxing about "The Palin Factor," and Sen. Barack Obama's California supporters are freaking out about a race Democrats were uncommonly confident about only a month ago.

I mean, the amazing thing is that this is the San Francisco paper, and the comments are 5 to 1 pro-Palin.

I wonder what’s up with all the “scandals.” The Kommie Kids seemed to have knocked it off and just decided to go with their repulsive insults. Even the pinheads at the Nat’l Enquirer have resorted to asking “What’s She Hiding?” Sorry boys. If you don’t know, how the hell are we supposed to know.

Between the credit crisis, bankruptcies, billion dollar buyouts and billion dollar buyouts, the economy has emerged as issue No. 1 in the presidential race. Which candidate do you think will do the best job reviving the U.S. economy?
Poll Results:
John McCain (R) - 69.2%

Barack Obama (D) - 20.3%

Bob Barr (L) - 0.8%

None of the Above - 9.7%

So many of these stories have bottom lines that make no sense. McCain surges in poll after poll among sub-groups but falls behind in the big picture.

Democrats are told they will win California in a walk, yet the Democrats in California start to panic.

My world is anecdotal. All I see are tepid McCain supporters getting truly excited about the ticket thanks to the addition of Palin.

I wonder if Democrats more objective internal polls show things even worse for them than the most optimistic Republican suspects.

This is good news. I would love to see California in play and not a Democrat Satrap as it has been. I would like to see the Golden State go for McCain/Palin in November. Maybe the candidates would come here for more than Hollywood fund raisers.

Bradley effect in the open. One third of Democrats won’t vote for a black man.

Is President Reagan (RIP) the last GOP Presidential candidate to carry California?

No, Bush 41 did carry CA in 1988, but by a closer margin. Reagan carried CA both times by over a million votes.

1) If it's in the open, then it's not the so-called Bradley Effect. 2) You're absolutely dreaming.

“…So we’re preaching to swing voters,” Gore said. “That’s the plan, anyway, to create an emotionally resonant message that convinces those folks that Sarah Palin is not who they think she is. …”

Typical liberal garbage… They cannot come to grips with substantive issues, so the only thing they have is “emotion.” That is why everything these cretins do is always a lose-lose proposition, and it explains why they are hell-bent on indoctrinating our children as early as possible. Keep your sons and daughters out of public schools, unless you want to see the liberal cycle of idiocy perpetuate indefinitely.

“…MoveOn’s advertising will be targeted at 22 states - swing states, plus what Pariser referred to as “a wish list” of traditionally red states where Obama might be competitive. Its more immediate goal is to register 500,000 under-30 voters before the Oct. 6 deadline in some states. …”

That number includes those who died under thirty, and, of course, all the illegal wetbacks the schmucks round-up during their ‘big yellow bus’ grand tour to the voting booths.

Interesting, because previous Palin articles on SFGate have attracted more than their share on nasty anti-Palin comments. Though there are many more conservative commenters on the site than there are conservative voters in San Francisco... ;)

In 1988 the elder Bush carried Cali 51-48%.
