Obama won't carry North Carolina. Kerry lost it by double digits with Edwards on the ticket. The only way a Democrat wins statewide in NC is if he can deceive the voters into thinking he's a conservative. Edwards did that in the Senate race back in 1998, going all over the state calling himself a family values conservative and claiming he would pray before every Senate vote to ask the Lord's guidance. He'd never held office before, so he had no prior record to assess, and he won the election. He immediately tracked hard to the left, and became so unpopular he didn't even file for re-election.
The last ‘Rat presidential candidate to win in NC was Carter, who likewise had the ability to pass himself off as a conservative in 1976. No ‘Rat presidential contender has carried the state since. It ain't gonna be a black radical leftist named Barack Hussein Obama who breaks the GOP streak.
so unpopular he didn't even file for re-electionI had cause to drive through Robbins, NC (Edwards' "hometown") just about every weekend during the '04 elections. Not one "Home of John Edwards" sign to be seen. Not even a "Kerry-Edwards" campaign sign, as I recall.
Edwards lives with Chapel Hill libs. They've got as much to do with the rest of the state, as say, California.
