I think you're being optimistic. Who is to say that Obama and Congress wouldn't just cancel the elections? It is generally what happens when people of his ilk get elected. The right said the same thing about Clinton.
The left continues to say the same thing about Bush.
I think you (and all the other hand-wringers) should take a deep breath and get a reality check.

Historically, Obama operates under the Chicago election example. There are, in fact elections, but only one party. And also historically, Obama has eliminated his opposition (eg. Ms Palmer) by taking them off the ballots on technicalities or by unsealing divorce documents (eg. Ryan). I think that Obama’s personal history speaks for itself in regards to the issue of fair elections....and I am not even going to start talking about his affiliations with ACORN.
