Reiss resigns as Royal Society stifles debate on evolution (Evos turn on their own)
CMI ^ | September 23, 2008 | Andrew Halloway

This week, in Britain, we have had the highest profile proof that even a hint that your views on evolution might differ from those of the scientific establishment is enough to force you out. Prof. Michael Reiss, an evolutionist and the Royal Society’s director of education, resigned under pressure (given the push) within a couple of days of merely suggesting that creationism and ID could be discussed in classrooms—even if it was in order to explain why they were, in his view, wrong.2

Immediately, atheistic scientists called for him to be ousted, claiming he was wanting creationism to be taught as an alternative to evolution. This was not his position, so he was not pushed out because of what he actually said, but because other people misrepresented what he had said. The Royal Society should have defended Reiss against those who were twisting his words, but instead they gave in, thus saving their own reputation for evolutionary orthodoxy.

Note, at the risk of repetition, that Reiss is an evolutionist himself. He was simply saying it was OK for pupils to express their own opinions. He said, ‘There is much to be said for allowing students to raise any doubts they have—hardly a revolutionary idea in science teaching—and doing one’s best to have a genuine discussion.’3...

Next they'll have him on the rack and stretch him until he recants.

Then the fire ~ they're building a large stack of timbers as we write.

And here I was thinking that science was all about having an open mind and being willing to entertain other possibilities.

This is the kind of behavior that throws real doubt on evolution - if they're not even willing to let kids ask questions, and answer them, how scientific is it? Yeah, each generation of kids comes up with the same questions over and over. If you don't like answering the same questions from a new class each year, is it the answers you're not comfortable with, or the profession of teaching?

If you ever wondered how the Temple of Darwin would rule if they ever got the upper hand, all you have to do is see how they treat their own.

That’s because anthropogenic global warming is mandated by their anti-human-nature-religion.

Because of course discussion, debate and raising questions have absolutely NOTHING to do with science, after all.

Yes, there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with Britain further capitulating to Muslim demands and teaching Creationism to the budding little jihadists.

On any other subject FR would be applauding those who nipped this little Muslim capitulation in the bud.

How long can the British Empire last while it gives away its law, its education and its history to the Muslims?

Oh, come on, the 'global warming' 'debate' is just the latest in a whole string of evidence debunking that theory. It goes all the way back to Galileo and beyond.

Science is perfectly willing to entertain other SCIENTIFIC possibilities. Science cannot entertain the notion of divine intervention as an explanation and still be Science. Science is based upon the notion that there are physical and predictable and measurable explanations for physical phenomena.

Creationism and Incompetent Design are based upon the notion that physical phenomena are best explained by unmeasurable and unpredictable forces acting in an unknown manner at some unknown time in the past.

Heaven forbid that the local communities have some say in how their tax dollars are spent in the education of their children. /s

That’s just not going to make good little socialists if they get to think for themselves. / no sarcasm

It’s amazing how fast they’ll turn on one of their own the minute he speaks his mind.

The big bang is based upon the notion that physical phenomena are best explained by unmeasurable and unpredictable forces acting in an unknown manner at some unknown time in the past.

how scientific.....
