Palin skips fundraisers to work crowds
Politico ^

John McCain’s campaign is scrapping, rescheduling or offering surrogates for nearly every one of the fundraisers Sarah Palin was to hold this month, instead having her campaign jointly with McCain, prepare for her sole debate next month and get some foreign policy exposure.

According to an internal fundraising calendar put together in late-August just before McCain’s vice presidential selection, Palin was to have headlined nine fundraisers across five states by now.

She’s attended just one to date.

And she’ll miss several more that had been in the works for this week, having reunited with McCain to stump in suburban Philadelphia Monday before heading to New York City for two days of meetings with foreign leaders in town for the United Nations General Assembly.

“It only makes sense that we would maximize her time and make sure the schedule lets her spend time meeting with voters, mobilizing volunteers and communicating her record,” said an aide to Palin, requesting anonymity to discuss strategic matters.

Why? McCain and the RNC are awash in money and Palin is a huge hit out on the stump.

In fact, I think I’ll go drop another Benjamin on them...

Palin is more valuable on the trail drawing 60,000 person crowds!

Well forget the 'foreign policy exposure' because nobody's going to buy that anyway. But the way she fires up the crowds on the campaign trail is of far more value than the fundraising. Anyone can raise the money, but there aren't that many that motivate the base like she does. The debate prep is important, but the debate itself shouldn't be a problem. Everyone is expecting her to look like a dunce, it should be easy to prove them wrong.

Best use of her time by far. Drive local media coverage.

Gov. Palin...gosh, just to write her name makes me feel good! Imagine what it’s like to actually attend one of her rallies! The more the voters see her, the more they love her.

The money is flowing in. Her appearances are what we need. Good strategy!

McCain has always prefered “buzz” to ad buys, but with the money being close, it could be they calculate that a personal touch would just work better then “yet another” ad campaign.

Unorthodox to be sure.

Didn’t LBJ say each hand shook is worth 20,000 votes?

Let’s see which one implodes first. My guess is the populist, not the real conservative.

She will have the cat bird seat to the most influential office in the world as well as being involved in the inner workings of administration, not to mention inhabiting the best digs in Washington at the Naval Observatory.

I think she will be quite satisfied.

LOL!  Yes it is.  Reserve your outrage for when he confines Ms. Palin to the VP Residence and sticks the shiv in our backs the day after the inauguration!

I almost posted an old McCain Koolaid image in another thread a few days ago but I decided I didn't want to spoil the euphoria.

Looks like they recognize that she's the one that will get the voters out and the one that appeals to the common people. I have to say, with all my disagreement with McAmnesty, he is running a great campaign.

Sarah Palin sent me an e-mail asking for another donation. Sarah, it’s on the way.
