My son is taking a Hunter's Safety course through his AG Mechanics class in his Middle School. He has another week to go, then we get to eat venison!
As part of the class they are required, by law, to show the kids two videos.
The first is a graphic, no-holds-barred, instructional video of processing a deer, from whole dead Bambi to gutted, skinned, chopped up Bambi. He's processed smaller animals his entire life, so that wasn't a problem. ("Those backstraps look gooood!")
The second video is supposed to give "The Other Side" an opportunity to give their argument. (Thank you Austin.)
For 10-15 minutes the kids were subjected to the shrill, wavering voice of an angry, emotional woman explaining to them that hunting was EVIL. She told them that the poor deer didn't do anything to them and called them monsters. She attacked their character and their basic morality. She told them that hunters were unfair because the deer didn't stand a chance. She told them that they were only one small step from murdering humans.
My son said that the boys couldn't stop laughing. He said that they could've watched it a dozen times for the entertainment value alone.
"It was highly effective! In the time it took to watch a this short video an entire room of teenagers were converted to lifetime Republicans! De-licious!"

Interesting that they are required by law to show the anti-gun side, but where abortions are concerned, they are not required to show the pro-life side beforehand. Hmmmmmm.
Your son also probably knows his way around Youtube. Please request on our behalf to post some of this video so we can share in the laughter.

Maybe Texas could pass an abortion add-on to whatever gun ed law this is. I’d love to see that.
Speaking as the mother of a teenage boy, I can tell you that there is nothing more calculated to make a boy do the opposite of what you want than to present your request in the voice of an angry, emotional woman.
(And by the same token, if a woman will drop her voice an octave and speak slowly and with warmth and approval, she can also get him, or any heterosexual male, to do almost anything.)
You son is learning a good life lesson. It’s wonderful that Texas even offers hunter safety as a part of the curriculum .... unheard of here in NE, I suspect. [Would love to be proved otherwise]
This uphill battle that we face daily against the socialists is going to be something he will see throughout his lifetime.

Early in my 26 year Navy career I asked an old Chief if he ever worried about his wife playing around while he was at sea. He told me that his solution to the problem was to go straight home when the ship pulled in, knock on the front door and then run to the back door and swing. He told me he hasn't missed yet.
If he suspected that his missus was toying around with a Marine, he'd leave all of his shoes by the door when the cruise started. The Marine would be so busy polishing the shoes that he wouldn't have time for anything else.
Why do all conservative women seem to have this figured out? My daughters and wife can play me like a violin. This is the first time I've figured out why.
Amen, I’m not sure I could fit through the roll out window of a mobile home anymore. She did have the decency to hand me my pants before he started shooting but she didn’t distract him long enough for me to put them on. They called me running bear back then and it wasn’t an Indian name.
Yeah, we saw that one last week. My son’s in love! He says, “She’s freakin’ adorable!” :-)
