A new television ad will begin airing in Colorado this week focusing on Sen. Barack Obama's recent slur against Sen. John McCain and disabled war veterans in a political advertisement.

Citizens for Open and Responsive Government (CORG) will begin airing the ad, featuring Lt. Colonel Mike Fairhead of Rogers, AR a retired U.S. Army officer, this week. Fairhead is a disabled Vietnam War veteran and a Purple Heart recipient.

The new CORG ad -- titled "Wounded Veterans" -- is a response to an ad that Obama ran last week mocking McCain for not using a computer. (Text of the CORG ad follows.) Since then, it has been revealed that Sen. McCain is unable to use a keyboard due to the injuries he sustained during five and a half years as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam.

"Though we have been told time and time again that this election cycle will introduce a 'new kind of politics' and 'change,' seeing is believing and what CORG saw was one candidate attacking another for a disability sustained while serving our nation," said Carlton Saffa, the director of CORG. "We want veterans and other voters to be aware of the unacceptable smears and unforgivable slurs that Barack Obama and his campaign hit men are perpetuating against Sen. McCain and his honorable service to our nation."

On Monday, Obama's running mate, Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware, denounced Obama's ad as "terrible" and stated that he would never have run it—an unprecedented rejection of negative attack politics from a member of the same ticket.

In the past Citizens for Open and Responsive Government has worked to educate our fellow citizens on a wide range of issues including taxes, immigration, abortion, ethics and veteran's affairs.

Citizens for Open and Responsive Government is is a non-profit 527 corporation. It was started to educate the public about candidates' records on a wide range of issues. You can view the commercial on the Web site http://www.corg.us.

"Wounded Veterans"

Fairhead: Mike Fairhead, United States Army, Retired.

Narrator: What do Mike Fairhead and John McCain have in common? They are both wounded veterans and neither of them are able use a computer or type an email because of war injuries.

Apparently, Barack Obama's believes John McCain's war injuries disqualify him from being commander-in-chief.

This attack is so shameful that even Obama's own running-mate, Joe Biden, described the attack as "terrible". Saying, "...[I'd] never have done it."

Fairhead: Mr. Obama, why do you attack Sen. McCain because his disability?

“Since then, it has been revealed that Sen. McCain is unable to use a keyboard due to the injuries he sustained during five and a half years as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam.”

It’s been out there since McCain ran for President in 2000.

Exactly right.

This was a travesty of Herculean proportions. First they insulted a war vet for injuries he sustained in the service of the USA. Second they try to paint a very techno savvy Senator as out of touch while never doing the critical research that any techno savvy person WOULD do before such a charge to make sure there wasn't a good reason for McCain to not use a keyboard.

Anyone who has seen McCain on the stump knows he has trouble raising his arms. He winces in pain when he raises an arm to wave to the crowd.

How stupid and computer illiterate would one have to be to go after a war vet for not using a computer. How about if I go after the Obama campaign for not knowing how to do a simple internet search?
