Unfortunately, the title here is misleading. McCain is not suspending his campaign. He is suggesting that the debates be delayed so that, instead, he, Obama, and Bush meet (on Friday?) to discuss the financial crisis. I was alarmed at the title as posted. I thought it was that McCain was ending his run or something for some reason.
The author's actual title is "McCain's Bet." Perhaps it should be changed on FR to accurately reflect what the author titled his piece?

I like the way you think.
The funny thing is that Obama has been prepping for the debate for weeks now and to postpone it won’t make Barry very happy.

Agreed. McCain knows that Obama wants to use the debates to “charm” the masses back onto his plantation.
Also McCain didn't say anything about keeping Gov. Palin off the rally and fund raiser circuit. After all Alaska is in terrific economic shape. Not being a Senator has it's benefits. :) Sens. Obama and Biden have to go back to Washington to “save face” and sit in their Senate seats squirming, counting the days until the election day as the Congressional calendar slowly crawls by. They can't dare leave, else the media will excoriate them.

McCain is running scared, now pulling a political stunt.McCain has had lapses in judgment and he's sometimes made mistakes but I doubt that he's ever run scared in his life. And, taking a firm leadership position is not the equivalent of a "political stunt."

Checkmate, Barry. Either you debate by yourself and look like a laughingstock elitist that you won't go back to Washington to help with a once-in-a-century crisis...or you do go back to Washington and you look like you're following McCain's leadership.
Ha Ha!

Regardless, this is the right thing for McCain to do.
I do believe that McCain is COUNTRY FIRST. Regardless if we agree with him on every issue.
Obama has fumbled the initial response, but he will recover before the evening news cycle. No way will Obama let McCain have the upper hand on this. The MSM will report it as BOTH campaigns are being suspected and they are returning to DC to work on the issue.
