come out with a bold free market version, get on the sunday shows to promote it, McCain endorses (hopefully), and we win in November.

The fact that you believe that going on a "Sunday Show" (average viewership 100,000 political junkies, mainly Left-Wing) to pitch the as-yet unwritten plan will carry the day shows that you are not living in the real world.

> Sarah Palin said Wednesday that the United States could be headed for another Great Depression

My understanding is that those are words that Katie put into Palin’s mouth, and that she did not exactly say that.

I like the repeal of SOX. The only problem I have right now is that there is just no cash out there in the market. The money is gone. Our whole economy is built on debt and the piper must be paid - now. I am not sure we have much choice other than to make this deal with the devil and then try to back out of it slowly over the next 20 -30 years (it is near impossible to wrest power AWAY from the gov’t once you give it to them).

Yes, the transcript shows it was a leading question. Of course the average poorly-informed undecided voter isn’t going to read the transcript, they’re going to read the MSM headlines.

Palin’s going to have to tighten it up and learn not to fall into the trap of leading questions.

It it a bail out or an investment?
In both the GM & Mexico multi-billion $ bail outs were paid back in advance with interest.

As for "letting the markets sort it out", may I refer you to The Panic of 1893
It was a subset of the period of economic crises known as the Long Depression (1873-1896) which was worse than the Great Depression of the 1930s.[1]

I see the calls for Palin to campaign while the other 3 are in session, and that’s the LAST thing she should do. It will make this whole thing to be a cheap stunt. What she NEEDS to do is get in and lend here presence to the house and senate, and SHOW the American people that she is ready to get in the trenches with the big boys and get things done.

But she’s not in congress so she has no place there.
She is a candidate so she has a place on the campaign trail.
Going to Washington DC would be an awkward intrusion.
Going to a campaign event would be performing her role on the ticket.

"If you really believe that a Republican in the White House will NOT get the blame, no matter what reality is, then you’re drinking kool aid."

Larry, are you a prayer warrior?

We can solidly beat the adversary through prayer and faith. Rather than being a doom and gloom prophet, we all need to encourage each other to use the tremendous power that we have, and remember to thank the Lord as we petition.

Intrusion? These are PUBLIC servants. I should be able to walk in and sit in the bleachers and watch, and so should she.

I’m not saying she should get involved. Just be there, and lead by example.

She is the Gov of Alaska, not a Fed, yet. She has little to contribute to ending the impending suicidal circle jerk in DC.

All this crap was widely forseen several years ago,(even I saw it coming)and I fail to buy into the political/MSM’s “immediate crisis” definition now.

Back to following the money, I “smell” not only the staggering level of corruption in the USA financial sector and Congress, there is also the international component.
Since the internationals are none who I would deem neutral parties, much less friendly partners, where to start?

How about following the money?

I’m sorry, but I’m not aware of many ideas originated from this forum that have made it into congressional debate. That’s an extremely high bar for relevancy.

If a solution is politically palatable, economical, moral and accomplishes its objectives better than leading alternatives, it’s relevant for discussion. If the criteria for relevancy were that no one in Congress has suggested it or likely will suggest it, this forum wouldn’t exist in any recognizable form.

Regarding this suggestion specifically, I’d argue that there’s little that’s more politically plausible than tax cuts directed to the people in order to save the homes and investments of millions, especially in an election year. Whether it’s moral, economical or does a better job of alternatives are up for debate.

What might have a chance at passage-—but again, would require immediate coalescence among the Republicans-—is an RTC type fund that would not be on the taxpayers. That worked pretty well before.

I am, and I pray every day for this country and our leadership. As you know, there are times when God spares an entire city (or nation) due to ONE “righteous man.” Then there are other times where the entire nation of Israel suffered for the sins of a few. Hard to tell where we are.
