A new poll of Montana voters shows that Republican John McCain holds a solid lead in over rival Barack Obama in the race for president, and Ron Paul could be a factor in the race.
The CNN-Time Opinion Research poll shows McCain leading Obama among likely voters by 54% to 43%. But, if third-party candidates are included in the question then McCain's lead slips.
Likely voters pick McCain over Obama by 49% to 40%, with 7% throwing their support behind Paul.

Some "battleground." Stand by for the inevitable "Obama pulls resources from Montana" story, like he did with North Dakota a week or so ago.

Is Ron Paul himself running? I thought he only endorsed the 3rd party candidates?

Wow! Montana, you don’t say!
At this rate McCain might even carry Idaho and Oklahoma!

Difference is, from what I know, Obama never held any delusions of winning Oklahoma, Idaho or Utah. But he did, for whatever reason, think he had a chance in Montana, North Dakota and Indiana...and wasted plenty of money in those states.

Yeah, but the governor is gonna cheat in every way he can to deliver this state, for his buddy Obama....just like he delivered the senator the Dems needed to break their senatorial tie.

0bama is wasting plenty of money everywhere.
Good for him, too.
That’s less money for the lunatic left to send to other candidates who might have a chance of winning their elections.

Is Ron Paul himself running? I thought he only endorsed the 3rd party candidates? He doesn't want to be on the ballot, but he was put on it. The Constitution Party of Montana put him on there as their endorsed candidate without his consent. He appealed to the Secretary of State of Montana, but they denied his request, stating that there was no provision to remove his name.

RON...Please publicly endorse a candidate and ask your followers to vote for that man
the last time there was a major 3rd party candidate (Ross Perot), he messed everything up and we got stuck with Clinton.

He did endorse Baldwin. Lots of people were thinking it would be Barr, but Barr is not as politically close to Paul as Baldwin is. Baldwin and the CP in general just isn’t as well known.
