...Once the liquidity crisis is blunted and the bad loans sorted out, taxpayers should see most if not all of their $700 billion back...

No matter what happens, taxpayers will never see see a nickel of that $700 billion back.

The concept of lowering taxes in not in the Dem playbook. It will be spent on pork projects which will enrich a few already-wealthy Dem fat cats, while throwing some chump change to select minorities.

who says this bailout will work? that we won’t need an even bigger bailout to fix the problems caused by this bailout?

I’m going back to work. This is a disaster. We’re going to get massive socialism through a huge unfunded bailout that will leave our currency worthless. Or we will get socialists elected in November, who will enact the same agenda anyway.

Seems like the choice presented here is that we’ve been given the gun with the bullet today to avoid the firing squad tomorrow.

it wasn't lack of regulation that got us here, it was bad regulation.

Fannie, Freddie and derivatives, which are a big part of what got us into this are not regulated effectively or at all.

Democratic spin is working. Republicans need to wake up.

Too late. W slept through every challenge. He could have vetoed at least SOME of their rat crap that prevented regulation.

But nooooooooo. No spine when it came to sticking up for regs that would have prevented this.

He let them run the show, so he really can't claim any authority. He is as guilty as they are.

He had the veto.

Too bad there are good GOP Congressmen who tried to thwart the Rats...but Bush's cave-in will have them tarred and feathered too.
