“You can’t handle the truth.”

A bare assertion is not the naked truth.

I stated:

1. Crime had dropped in Houston after Ike.
2. The current rate of burglary in Houston post-Ike is lower than in many major cities.

Facts provided by you demonstrate that both of those statements are correct.

It’s simple. I am right. You are wrong. Your facts demonstrate that I am right and you are wrong. The burglary rate in Houston post-Ike is less than half that of Los Angeles based on numbers you provided for both ends.

It does not matter how many times you assert I cannot handle the truth. Your statement does not alter those facts.

>>(Houston) Police Arrest 81 Looting Suspects After Ike

Houston is way ahead of the game, compared to NOLA. Heck, in NOLA, the police were DOING the looting! Who doesn’t remember the video of the NOLA cops “liberating” some DVDs and other non-essential goodies from Wal-Mart?

Here’s a small list of things we have seen: people clearing their property and repairing their homes; neighbors pooling resources; thousands of volunteers collecting food and clothing with thousands more distributing water and food from social service agencies, churches, and FEMA; a strong and immutable spirit that is Texas, and in reality, that is America.

God bless my Houston! :-D

I'll prove you can't handle the truth.

Here is your very *first* post to me on this thread where you attempted to divert what the hell was being discussed here.

Post#7 What is missing from that story is that total buglaries in Houston are down by about 1/3 of what they normally would be absent the storm.

Ya see slick, the news article I posted above has nothing to do with common burglaries. It's about LOOTING. Not burglaries. You couldn't even spell burglaries correct.

From the beginning, you attempted to change the entire story that I posted, that directly disputed the title of this thread.

The title clearly suggested there was no Hurricane related looting going on in Houston.

Well, we all know this is not true.

But, you get a cookie for kicking up dust and attempting to change the entire thread.

Nice try through.

Certainly you seem to be ignorant of things like the difference between Harris and Galveston Counties and the population of the Houston Metropolitan area. Otherwise you could put 81 arrests in . . . you know . . . perspective.

And a majority of those 81 are probably Katrina transplants. ;-)

The big lesson I got here is, if someone posts an article suggesting there was no Hurricane related looting going on during Hurricane Ike, do not under any circumstances post an article that clearly disputes that.

A big no no.

No one with any sense expects that in a metro area with a population in the millions, hard-hit by a hurricane, that there will be absolutely =ZERO= looting, which is what you’re contending. Seriously, your level of argument here is pretty sad. “THEY SAID THERE WASN’T **ANY** LOOTING!! LOOK! LOOK! THERE WAS SOME!!!1!” sums it up.

It’s pretty clear that the level of looting in Houston post-Ike is small, especially compared with what we saw after Katrina (whole Wal-Marts being stripped, etc).

Is there some reason you’ve chosen to be so senselessly argumentative about this?

No one disputed that.

Touchy are we?

Here is the title of the thread:

Again, the big lesson I got here is, if someone posts an article suggesting there was no Hurricane related looting going on during Hurricane Ike, do not under any circumstances post an article that clearly disputes that.

A big no no.

You just proved that.
