FreeRepublic also needs a face lift. It seems like it hasn’t changed for 10 years!

FR’s retro look is great. They fixed the problem of open tags. As long as there aren’t entire threads plagued with green, blinking, bold text, I’m happy with the look.

Back in the day, I had a “tag close bomb” saved in a text file to get rid of open HTML tags.

The debate thread moved just fine this evening. There doesn’t seem to be a big bandwidth problem.

Fix the server issues. The look is good enough, and any changes should only be after dealing with the current performance problems.
