"I've got a bracelet too"(Obama doesn't know the name)

This moment may stick with Barack Obama for a while. During the debate, John McCain explained that he wanted to remain resolute for victory in Iraq for the families of the men and women who had given their all for the mission. McCain talked about a bracelet he received from the mother of Matthew Stanley to emphasize his commitment, which he has done in campaign stops for the last several months. Team Obama prepared for it, but Obama blew the delivery

...Obama clearly prepared for this moment, knowing McCain would discuss his bracelet, but in those preparations, Obama didn’t commit the soldier’s name to memory. He had to look down at his bracelet to remember the name. McCain didn’t have to do that, which made Obama look much more manipulative in his presentation. It was a “tell”, a poker term for an involuntary physical manifestation of a player’s hand.

I think this clip is a killer, maybe the defining moment of the debate. It brings back to mind the Obama of the summer traveling to Germany but not stopping to see to wounded soldiers unless he can bring his photographer and the press along. Wearing that soldier's bracelet was a stunt. He didn't even know the name. he was just anticipating McCain would mention the bracelet that he is wearing and he prepared for it but not knowing the name reveals him yet again to be an inauthentic and pandering poseur. Watch the clip again.

Hehehe. This one was so pathetically obvious. Notice the MSM silence on this debate gaffe and this exploitation. He first states it comes from the soldier (who is dead after all) then from his mother, umm, ahhh,... What a crock.

A bracelet, huh? I’ve never seen him wearing it. Certainly he didn’t have it the whole time he was campaigning here a couple weeks ago.

Yep that was an awkward moment for Obama. He chimed in that he had bracelet too, but didn’t remember the name of the soldier.

The media and their liberal allies do not care that he didn't remember the name because to them, it wasn't important. The bracelet was simply an accroutrement, a symbol, an accessory to "prove" his "solidarity" with the American Soldier.

The bracelet exists to serve a purpose, and that is to convince enough of the presumptively dumb denizens of Flyover Country that he is One Of Them.

Obama's faux compassion for the military was revealed last night as the bullsh!t it is.

I guess for selective viewers this is something.

But for the intelectually honest, McCain looked at his bracelet twice before giving the soldier’s name.

There’s no there there.

Yea, the MSM/DBM would make much out of this if it was the other way around. But it's sad that this is the kind of piddly little *&!$ that pass for substance.
McCain missed three big opportunities:
1. Didn't go into the Community Reinvestmnet Act that lead to the whole subprime mess.
2. The fact that the reason that the deal wasn't done yesterday was due the Repubs finally finding a pair somewhere and killing it because the dims were going to siphone off part of any upside to their pet commie ACORN buddies.
3. How in the fee-fi-fo-fum can you give a tax break to people who don't pay any tax? Oh, that's right, you give money that some "rich" guy paid in.
OY!

Obama had the ( Me too ) syndrome last night, if you noticed it.... Obama said about 7 times.... " I agree with John McCain " and he had to put his 2 cents in when John McCain said he got a bracelet from a mother who's son died in combat.... and Obama said he got a bracelet too.
BTW ? who was Obama talking to or looking at while a few times while the questions were being asked and he was about to answer ? you saw him looking some were in the audience... did he have cheat cards that someone was holding up for answers ?

The MSM will say that the Bracelet moment is all about appearance and says nothing about any issue of “substance”. This is because they don’t consider a person’s Character to matter. Of course, we found out with Clinton that it did. And that little act speaks volumes about Obama’s character and authenticity. He is just your typical political hack willing to use dead soliders as props. At least McCain walks the walk. His own son is in Iraq, but you will never hear him say it. I think that’s why he choose Palin too—she was as willing to sacrifice as he.

I think he was looking at John (Lurch) Kerry. From some photos I’ve seen, Kerry was especially grim about Obama’s performance.

“But for the intelectually honest, McCain looked at his bracelet twice before giving the soldier’s name.

Is that the standard line they are using on DU? McCain did not look at the bracelet except to display it. He did not read it off the bracelet. He has referred to that bracelet and the soldier whose name is on it by name dozens of times in stump speeches so much so that Obama was prepped for it.

For you to suggest otherwise shows you either don’t know this and are not only not intellectually honest (as you say) but also ill informed, or you are giving us DEM talking points.

Yup. McCain kept looking at his bracelet, too. And he looked at it before mentioning the soldiers name. It would be silly for the McCain camp to try to exploit Obama looking at his bracelet.

I didn’t see McCain pause and stutter when invoking his bracelet.

There is a difference TROLL! Obama looked as he stuttered
with the Uh OH look on his face as he read. McCain looked at his in sentiment and without reading.

McCain remembered the name because he obviously feels deeply for the sacrifice of this young man. He understands the pain and loss of war. The story was seared into him and I'm sure he DID think of this young man every day. This was clear from his words and expressions.

Obama, obviously, had a cynical prop on his wrist. It was handed to him by his clever handlers. It meant nothing to him, just like flag pins and putting one's hand over their heart; it was just an empty, meaningless symbol. Subconconciously, he hated the bracelet and he quietly hoped he could one day bring the nation out of such sentimental gestures.

There was never a more stark contrast between people, and the nature of their characters, values and motivations beneath the surface.

Look at the now famous picture of ASSama not saluting the flag last year. He has a watch but NO bracelet. What a piece of donkey poo.

What an a-hole. He does really come off as smug and smarmy. I bet he would never sit down with my family and eat fried chicken and greens and watch Tyler Perry movies, but I bet you $50 McCain (if he has the time to take off from running the White House) would chill with my family and feel comfortable. What a poodle.
