Prince is someone you either like or don’t. I actually stopped thinking about the crap that used to surround him years ago and listen to some of his guitar work and was really amazed at how solid his playing was, in both funk and rock. He took the low road to get attention, and that will stick with him for the rest of his career.
He’s actually quite religious now, although it is Jehovah’s Witnesses. He even goes door to door.

Just never dug Prince. The guitar work is OK. Sure. But the overall music does nothing for me. It's plastic. And his most memorable songs, in a word, stink. He was a tranvestite Madonna, basically. An example of everything that made 80s music a fake, image-oriented wasteland. It's telling that probably the most lasting music of the 80s is hair metal. Just shows how desolate a time it was for music, if you look just at the mainstream.
