A millionaire banker has been beaten to death after intervening to save a couple being assaulted by a mob.
Frank McGarahan, 45, was out with relatives the night before his niece's christening when he saw the pair being attacked near a taxi rank.
But as he shouted at the gang of ten men to stop, they turned on him. In the fracas, he suffered a serious head injury.
The father-of-two was the chief operating officer of Barclays Wealth, the bespoke finance arm which caters for the bank's richest customers, and managed their combined assets of £133 billion.
On Saturday evening the family went out for dinner in Norwich city centre. His wife Alison and their two children, aged seven and four months, returned to their hotel but Mr McGarahan stayed out for another drink with two male relatives.

Too bad he didn’t have the option of concealed carry. All that money and he couldn’t even defend himself on his own street.
Wow. Good thing he did not have a concealed carry weapon or someone could have been hurt.

Personally, it looks like the guy went out of his way to try and help someone in trouble and ended up dead for it, and I think that truly sucks.

It is sad. I’m a gunsmith and gunshop owner and it makes me sad to see victims made of good people who are disbarred the use of arms. I’ve become a bit cynical, as evidenced by my reply, but my heart goes out to his family and friends.
Very sad. A real hero, yet many are poking fun.

The members of the mob should be hunted down, tried, executed and their bodies hung in chains along the roadside as a warning to other scumbags. Will never happen of course, but they did do some things right in the old days....
Can’t wait for all our British members to jump in and tell us how much better it is in England without the CCW laws. ;-)
