ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Pakistan's army chief named a general considered a hawk in the fight against al-Qaida and the Taliban to head the country's powerful spy agency, asserting his control at a time of U.S. concern that rogue operatives are aiding Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan.
Lt. Gen. Ahmed Shujaa Pasha oversaw military offensives against militants in the lawless border regions with Afghanistan in his most recent job as director general of military operations.
His appointment as head of the powerful Inter-Services Intelligence, or ISI, the country's main spy agency, was part of a broader shake-up of army top brass announced late Monday by military chief Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.

Suspected US drone strike kills four in Pakistan: officials
I think the Paks understand that if they dont do something...they will suffer the same thing that Iraq and Afghanistan are going through...its that simple.
These stories coming out now are looking good - and I just listening to the new President of Pakistan - it sounds like there may be an end to the merry-go-round of the past with the Paki army attacking then calling a cease fire after a few days, allowing the miscreants to regroup and get stronger.
It may just be that the cease fire cock and bull will stop. The new Pres. has the right take. Help the locals in the NWFT to fight against the miscreants and drive them out (or preferably 'under').
It may be the only way. If the locals aren't on our/Pakistan's side - it will be more of the same for years.
As McCain pointed out, due to the terrain in that hostile terrain - the mountains of the Hindu Kush - NO ONE has conquered those tribes since Alexander the Great.
It is not the local tribes that are the enemy. They want the tallies ans alQ out too. But they need to know they won't get a few days help and then get left to face the revenge of the miscreants.
Right when things look like it may be heading in the right direction - with Pakistan on board, Obama talks about attacking Pakistan.
We MUST be sure McCain wins - although that just go harder with the ACORN voter fraud-squad just winning the right to vote early (NOW happening) and register and vote same day in Ohio. And the young people are pouring in and voting - and probably being bussed or car-pooled to do the same in town after town. The thoroughly intend to steal this election - it's the dirty Chicago gang that has been doing this even since they stole the election between JFK and Nixon. We have to get everyone to the polls -
