America has suffered greatly under a slew of judges appointed by Republicans who turned out to be liberals. Republican presidents had no choice. They appointed what they thought were stealth conservatives and hoped for the best. It's not that way anymore. There are real conservatives out there ready to take the bench. If the current crop holds true they may be Bush's greatest legacy after the War on Terror.
Places like Free Republic, Townhall.com, Drudge Report, Fox News were in their infancy ten years ago. There was no main stream media, there was just “The Media.” I don't think that it is a coincidence that the decline of the MSM coincided with the democrats losing the iron grip they held on congress for most of the 20th century. There is a real debate now, not just on between candidates for a few hours before each election, not just at rallies every fourth year. It is constant. Never have so many people had access to the truth from so many sources.
My mother is a life long democrat and firm social liberal, and we're talking about a Southern Baptist pastor's wife. She grew up with the new deal and has never let it go. But that generation is passing. The next generation has a chance if we don't abandon them. The fact that there is even the possibility of rejecting this government bailout is amazing. I wish John McCain was more of an ideologue - he had several opportunities to put Obama away during the debate, especially towards the beginning. But I think he can at least be a serviceable steward of our government until more help arrives.
Liberals are much easier to focus on a task since they readily buy the line-o-the-day. Conservatives ask questions, and therefore have to be convinced. But they can be focused. Look at the Meyers nomination, the immigration bill and the Palin choice. Now is a great opportunity for conservatives to get the message out.
I have discussions with people all the time in my office, my building, at lunch. Facts are always a conservatives friend, and it's amazing how just a few easily provable facts about Obama can change someone's outlook. I fully agree with you're preposition that this is no time for doom and gloom. We might have to put up with McCain's global warming, blame wall street B.S. for a few years, but I'd sure love to see Pelosi and Reid go sit on the back bench for a while. Even though the senate is probably out of reach, there is hope for a much more conservative house, and that could make the budget battles much more entertaining than the last couple have been.
Thank you for the compliment, and for posting this thread. It has lead to some good discussion. And maybe people who have just read through it and watched the video will gain some encouragement.
I’ve posted on a couple of other threads to the doom and gloomers “How can we win with the MSM....” I tell them just like we did with Reagan, Talk-Radio, the internet, e-mail, Fox News, etc.
Look at all these new toys we have since Reagan won 2 landslides, the left is nervous. The LEFT saw a golden opportunity for a MASSIVE power grab here and scared plenty of people to go along. Well, let’s say the financial crisis is going to cause the next great depression, it’s either that or we’ve been invaded by Martians. How much bigger of a power grab could it be than what we were told was IMMINENT GLOBAL ECONOMIC COLLAPSE——Unless Barney Frank writes a bill. LOLOLOLOL
Won’t it be interesting when history is written that it may have been the VANITY (how appropriate for what’s been going on here) of Nancy Pelosi killed what would have surely been American Socialilsm/Communism.
Nancy Pelosi’s unbridled arrogance saved Capitialism and Free Markets for the next 100 years. I sure hope so, I hope everyone has cooled off. They’re going to make another grab, they came close. Stay on your toes.
