Man dives in to save dog from shark in Florida attack
koaa.com ^ | October 01, 2008 | Bea Karnes

A Florida man risked his own life to save his four legged friend from the jaws of a shark. It happened in Islamorada, in the Florida Keys.

Jake, a rat terrier, was swimming when a five foot shark attacked, pulling him under the water.

His owner, Greg LeNoir, dove into the water and punched the back of the shark's neck, causing it to release Jake from its grip.

Jake has teeth marks in his abdomen, back, and chest, but he is expected to fully recover.

Maybe. Unless there’s a badass guy around who loves the dog.

Chewie is an exceptional name for a shark snack. LOL. Only Chummy could surpass it.

The dog's name is "Chewie?"

Shouldn't it be changed to "Chewee" or maybe "Chewy?"

Cool story. A few years back my dog fell through the thin ice on a frozen pond. I didnt twice think about going in after him.

“Dog bites man”, that’s not news.

“Man bites dog”, that’s news.

“Man punches shark and rescues dog”, now that’s REALLY news!!

Anyway, well done O brave dude.

O brave dude.

How about, "O crazy dude?"

Look, I like my dog and all, but if she was in that position and I did not have a no risk way to protect her, like a firearm, she would just be shark meat.

The kids would cry, Hell, I'd cry and give her a nice wake with plenty of steaks, but I'd be alive. A dog is not worth getting killed over.

What if the brave dude had been killed himself? Who would take care of his kids?

It would have been better not to have let the dog get in this position to begin with. That's one reason why my dog is always leashed when out of doors and not behind a fence.

The name on his papers is "Chewie". His mom's official name is "Princess Ceri". Dad was "Sion". He earned his name by chewing pant legs.
