Silly me. I thought in a representative democratic republic, we elected legislators and expected them to vote according to their knowledge, understanding and opinion as to what is best for the country.

Does that include taking over the financial institutions, and forcing tax payers to foot the bill for their failure?

I didn’t think Congresscritters were SUPPOSED to wet their finger to see which way the electorate is blowing and simply do what the masses want.

Like the masses demanding government protect and secure our sovereign borders, (one of the few things that government is actually supposed to do) and the government instead has done nothing but aid and abet this lawless invasion...While making the American tax payers subsidize this invasion?

You seem to be suggesting that Americans should just bow down to our overlords because they have the "Knowledge, understanding and opinion as to what is best for the country".

Things sure have changed for our Republic.

Don't be obtuse. I said nothing of the kind. I said that legislators should vote the way they understand, and what they feel is best. That's the way our representative democracy has worked for over 200 years. If we, the voting public, don't like how they vote on a series of issues, we vote them out of office. Sure, we can call and write and yell at them to vote one way or another, but I hope they don't start voting based just on the whims of their constituents. The masses are quite often wrong.
