Obama 49%, McCain 44% (+3 points from yesterday).

In his acceptance speech at the Republican convention, McCain asked us to "fight with me." But now he has changed his tune, arguing that we should be "bipartisan" at a time when the Democrats are trying to destroy our party and put a radical leftist in the White House.
Barack Obama has given our side tons of ammunition: His woeful lack of experience, his ties to Alinsky, his friendship with anti-American terrorist William Ayers, his allegiance to the racist anti-semite Jeremiah Wright, his Senate record of voting for higher taxes every chance he got, and his opposition to reining in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. But instead of fighting to win this election, John McCain is calling on us, his supporters and donors, to be "bipartisan," to bend over, grab our ankles, and let the liberal Democrats have their way with us.
From where I sit, it looks like McCain has stopped fighting. So how can he ask us to fight with him? I will no longer support Republican candidates who refuse to fight for what we believe in. John McCain must decide for himself whether he is going to put Washington "bipartisan" elitism first, or his country first.
Unless McCain drops his attempts to cuddle up to Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, and the rest of the Democratic Party, and instead starts swinging, I will not vote for him on November 4.
To be honest, I'm not all that sure he really wants to win. Get ready for President Obama (I'm getting sick already just thinking about it).
Hope they do not hamstring Sarah with McClames reach out baloney. If they do she will have to go back to Alaska to set up the seccession. Alaska may be the first state to drop out of Obama Nation. Only She can save us now.
he has two debates left and four weeks, if he refuses to play hard ball politics, against the Chicago, Alinsky taught Obama, the he is toast.
But all is not lost, no all is not lost, not yet anyway.
McCain is more interested in being “bipartisan” than in winning an election. He wants the Democrats to like him more than he wants the White House.
Five point deficit in manipulated poll is not “getting ugly”. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
Kerry takes lead in new opinion poll
Washington
October 8, 2004 - 5:29PM
Democrat John Kerry has taken a slight lead over US President George W Bush, according to a new opinion poll. The survey by the Associated Press found that Kerry had gained ground with women, boosting his overall popularity and cutting into the president’s advantage on national security.
The two candidates remain in a very close race ahead of a second debate tomorrow in St. Louis.
Among 944 likely voters, the Democratic ticket of Kerry and John Edwards led Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, 50 per cent to 46 per cent, in the poll conducted for the AP by Ipsos-Public Affairs.
The October 4-6 survey had a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points. The race was tied at 47 per cent among the 1,273 registered voters in the poll, similar to others showing a tight race.
Forget polls-the election was just stolen in Ohio right in plain sight.
I will vote for him. As a last gasp but am dropping the repub party. I am going to the Constitution party to work in the resistance. Ron Paul was the only Republican who could of won.
“Get ready for President Obama”
Super Mega, Face-turn-green, stomach pain, fall on the floor Barf Alert!!!!
The thought of Obamanation being President makes me cringe.
What is America thinking? Honestly...
Battleground recently changed its methodology. They said so. So Obama movement is just in line with the other polls because they’re now using the same methodology.
McCain has never been in this to win. He is not a conservative. He is barely a republican. He should have switched over when the dems asked him. The malaise will begin in full on Jan. 20, 2009. The long nightmare will begin. The fall into the grips of full socialism is upon us.
Reagan is spinning in his grave.
And not a peep from McCain on that either. These F’ing Republicans just assume people will wake up one day and see it their way.
Thanks for that cheery note! I mean it.
Will this be enough for the "it is media bias only--McCain is doing fine" crowd to wake up?!
McCain IS blowing it by not fighting back.
Maybe if McCain imagined Barack were a REPUBLICAN, he might have a little more zest in his campaign.
I'm not giving up, but it looks like McCain is.
He is starting to look like GHW Bush in 1992...not really giving a damn. :(
You are so correct about looking at history on these polls.
Once this bail out bill passes and the so called crisis is over the campaign will take a whole different approach.
He can’t be partisan today or he’ll be blamed for the defeat of the bailout bill. He can’t afford that.
There. Fixed it.
BTW, it is important to realize that the VAST majority of folks aren't sitting around their computers every minute wringing their hands over every single frickin poll that comes out. They are living their lives, getting ready for football games, planning harvest, painting their house. Folks are busy, they do not follow daily tracking polls.
I predict that this election will be decided in the last week of the campaign as people think long and hard about the future.
McCain would rather lose an election than fight for true Conservative principles.....congratulations, he may have done just that!!
Agreed. The question is how do we win this for him in spite of himself? Do we need Rush and Hannity to start 527’s and run ads exposing who obama really is?
The problem is that McCain is stuck on “Senator” when he should be being presidential and taking it to Barry.
He has been in the “mutual admiration society” of Washington and the Senate in particular for too damned long.
He had better nut up and start hammering away and realize the media is totally in the tank for Barry.
Stop with the “he doesn’t want to win” nonsense.
Lot’s of time left.
Obama is still a socialist.
Sux to be you, how you like Obama now...
I like that for a bumper sticker. Like in 1980 there were no Carter voters , everyone was hiding like Peter...."Carter, nah I didn't vote for that guy." But I do like Obama peaking now, I think McCain does have a rabbit up his sleeve.
We need a fighter, and McCain wants to be a referee.

The Republican establishment thought the Media would be nice to McCain. That’s why they wanted him nominated.
The Media gave us John McCain so the Media could give the country Barack Obama.
Let’s hope he figures it out. He needs to start fighting and naming names.
Things will get better. Kerry was ahead at this point going into the election. McCain needs to close the deal over these last few weeks. McCain is going up with ads hitting the Democrats and Obama on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. We are going to war. Don’t get sick. Fight, write a letter to the paper, talk to friends who are political. Put a sign in your yard and a sticker on your bumper. Canvas on the weekend. There is so much more we can do beyond just watching the polls.

So, please do not invoke Pres. Reagan in your defeatist rantings.
The unemployment, economy and bailout are mounting and persuading the ignorant that it’ll be worse under Obama is difficult vs. MSM chronic torture that the savior is here.
I plan to make a mint on “Don’t blame me, I voted for Palin” bumper stickers.
Good letter—good points.
Now is not the time for grown men to spook the children and horses.
I still predict a McCain victory. And if the polls are within ten points the week before election day I predict an electoral landslide for McCain.
Despite the wailing and gnashing of teeth and third party protest voters there are STILL only two possibilities next January.
John McCain is sworn in as President.
Barrack Obama is sworn in as President.
I think the former is more likely and infinitely preferable, and so I will work towards that result.
Bump.
Do you know what polls were showing this time in 1996? Dole losing by 24 points. He lost by 8. Ford was down by as much as 30 points to Carter in 76 - lost by 2. Bush was trailing Gore by 5 to 6 points.
So being down 5 or 6 points is not the end of the campaign by any means.
I have had that same feeling but haven't voiced it. He loses, he goes back to being a Senator and when he feels like it, retires from the rat race. He wins and he faces many years of criticism (he's finally figured out that the press won't be pulling for him.)
Ever since the economic meltdown, I feel like he lost his fire.
I wasn't happy about a McCain candidacy anyway because I know I'd be infuriated if he made it to the White House and started playing footsie once again with the Dems.
But I will vote for him, nonetheless, because he's a better choice than Obama. I'm just not sure that should he win, I'll be anything less than frustrated with his term as President, I don't think it will "help" the conservative cause in any way.
Here's how predictable the “debate” will go this evening. Palin will be hammered with hardcore questioning. After the debate they will call it a draw. No matter how good she does. Then after the DNC has massed emailed their base to hit all internet polls to make it appear as if Biden has squarely won the debate the following day the MSM makes it move and it will not longer be called a draw but a clear win for Biden using the skewed polls to hammer that home. Does the GOP base wither and slide away by this manipulation?
Send in the 527s!
And yep, they're here. They sound somewhat reminiscent of Harry Reid with his "This war is lost." And, ooops...it wasn't. Remember?
Buck up, folks and stop giving up just because the road gets bumpy.
It ain't over until November 4.
I know first hand how NJ union workers would take election day off, with full pay of course, vote in Joisey, and then get bussed to NY or Pa. Pa. and NY unions would reciprocate. the result is that those thhree states are no longer competitive.
The only way McCain wins Pa. is if Hillary commands Fast Eddie Rendell to suppress the vote fraud.
Amen to that. I’m getting very tired of McCain and his Democrat pals saying that now is not the time to assign blame for the economic mess. Well, I want blame assigned and I suspect that the American people do as well! What Raines and Johnson did was far worse than what Lay, Ebbers, and Kozlowski did. They, along with Dodd, Schumer, Frank, and the Congressional Black Caucus need to be held to account.
Right and all of it has been used over and over to no avail. All it has done is, that in spite of it, voters think Obama will be better for them than McCain. McCain has to figure out why before it is too late for him. The vision thing of Palin and Lieberman seem more like loads that lifts.
Be prepared for massive voter fraud accusations from the left when McCain wins. Personally, I expect riots.
My prayer.
Please God, make the rightwing folks shut up and stop bashing McCain and Sarah Palin.
The world needs someone who understands national security is also worldwide security.
If so, I’ll be there!!
Check out newsbusters today on the new methodology in polling.
Stop whining about the polls, stop handwringing, and first and foremost stop bashing McCain.
