Would it be asking too much to Fire Barney Frank and Chris Dodd and maybe try to recoup a few million from Rainey? Cronyism is a crime...where is Nancy and her most ethical congress ever.....oh, busy still trying to stoke the faux crisis and cover for the Democratic Crooks like Christopher Dodd and Barney Franks! Disgusting!!!
The county, not the stock market, are reeling at the arrogance and audacity of these elected for the people. Vote 'em out!
What gets me is that most people think the answer to this is to elect the former ACORN community organizer. It’s beyond belief! When is our side going to scream the truth loud enough? There’s no fair and balanced in this - one side tried to do something and the other side obstructed and their friends and supporters and voting blocs got what they wanted and now we’re all supposed to pay for it.
ARRRRGHHH! When is McCain going to act like a maverick? He’s reminding me why I really wanted Fred.
I thought that reform of the alternative minimum tax was in this bill? That’s a big one.
Sec. 201. Deduction for state and local sales taxes
Allows residents of states that don’t pay income tax to deduct, from their federal taxes, sales tax paid over the course of the year. States that benefit include Texas, Nevada, Florida, Washington and Wyoming. The bailout bill extends this provision for 2 years at a cost of $3.3 billion.
I think this is pathetic. But I’ll try to laugh.
Claims that we are heading for the great depression, or that we are socializing a major sector of America, or that Government doesn’t have a clue, take second place to micromanaging the economy to the benefit of parochial special interests. The Senate bail-out package required the following in order to pass:
Exemption from excise tax for certain wooden arrows designed for use by children.
Our politicians have come a long ways since preparing the Declaration of Independence.
I agree with your sentiments about corrupt congress. However, i don’t think we are heading to socialism, we have already been there for decades. We are heading to the failure of our government and economy. In my humble opinion, the gig is up. See Soviet Union for details.

Sadly, you could also ask on of the millions of Chinese who starved to death living in Chairman Mao’s “Great Leap Forward”. Good point.
Even the harshest critic of the 700 billion dollar bail-out could of respected that.
It may not have been Texas’ senators. Several state residents do not pay state income tax, but other states residents are allowed to deduct their state income taxes from their gross income. Fair is fair.
