“they’ve allowed all the kooks in,”

Ha! Hate to tell you this, Bub, but the kooks have been there all along.

Exactly. This is SPIN....

He clearly was supporting Repubs prior to this. He played for Bush in 04. He donated to Bush in ‘04. But when backlash from Hollywood hit at him, he started with the “I’ve been a lifelong Dem” crap. And tried to play it down the middle.

Now he must be catching heat from his base which is 100% conservative.

Toby Keith said in the past he was a registered Dem, even after the '04 elections.

I think that attacking Keith at this point is really kind of cynical. I honestly don't think his music sales have much to do with his politics, but his image. Merle Haggard did fine, so did Johnny Cash without being as Super Conservative.

Unfortunately, that ain’t going to happen.. Those two are pretty hardcore lefties.

But Toby was always a conservative, just trying to play it down the middle. But the story of him supporting Obama caused so much backlash (with his 100% conservative base) he was forced to make it clearer who he’s supporting.

I have followed keith’s politics pretty close since ‘01 when he started getting heat from the left for his ‘Angry American’ anthem.

He was clearly in Bush’s tank, playing rallies for him, donating to him. Then in ‘05 or ‘06 when his Hollywood career was moving forward and the war and Bush becoming unpopular he started with the “lifelong Dem” talking point to get cover in Hollywood. This worked for a while until the sotry about him backing Obama.

That’s the only point I’m making. I am a huge Keith fan.

... my [DEMOCRAT] party, that I've been affiliated with all these years, doesn't stand for anything that I stand for anymore. They've lost any sensibility that they had, and they've allowed all the kooks in, so I'm going independent."

OH MY GOSH!!! wow!!! That pretty much nails it down tight. Good for Toby Keith. He still owns his mind and conscience.

“Ha ha ha......he’s been ditsy chited and it’s hurting his sales. Sorry Toby but it’s too late now.”

Toby Keith isn’t a wingbat.

“We’re at war with the terrorists,” he said. “And that if we don’t try to do something about it, then it’s gonna keep happening here until some of our freedoms are lost.”

Exactly, Toby praised Obama in August of this year. And, BTW, I believe that he lives in Nashville, and Tennessee doesn't register by party.

Then the CD sales drop is more likely the story.

He was misquoted.
Have You ever been interviewed for a paper or a magazine?
Sometimes the reporter instead of writing what You actually said will write what they wanted You to say or what they think You said, and THAT makes the article.
I know Toby personally.
I take Him at His word.

I don’t know about all that....
It says here in the ARTICLE which was what I thought was the subject here...He was misquoted.

I know that happens in interviews.

I don’t know when that was You’re talking about.
I don’t listen to Glenn Beck.

If He did, He’s obviously changed His mind....which Is what We’d like for people to do instead of voting for that nutcase Obama.

Instead , some of You are sounding like rather cynical nutcases Youreselves.
