That's what my history book says.
Jesus was a Jew, a citizen of Israel which was, at that time, occupied by the Romans.
The odd thing is, after the Romans crushed the Jewish rebellions and destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple, they RENAMED the area “Palestine” (a corruption of Philistine) in an attempt to wipe out the memory of Israel.
It seems like the same kinds of people are trying the same thing today—even in our textbooks.
I swear, anyone who can afford private schools but still sends their kids to public schools is nuts.
