I had a friend who was born in Nassau, his mother was Bahamian and his father was a US natural born citizen.

That's part of the point here (I think). Barry has both Indonesian and American citizenship, doesn't he? Not trying to cloud the waters... honest.

He would only have US citizenship if his mother was an American citizen and if she had applied for a Certificate of Brith Abroad with the US embassy/consulate in the country that she was in. (Assuming he was born abroad.)
