I believe if Obama is elected and the House and Senate go to the Democrats, it is a matter of time when being a Christian in the US will be against the law. Bonhoeffer in popular culture and in film is often portrayed as a Liberal! But that is not the truth.
In the COST OF DISCIPLESHIP he uses a very literal and conservative view of the scripture. He does not reduce Jesus’ words to just “love” while dropping all those unpopular moral absolutes.
Bonhoeffers will always be a minority among Christians. Those who really put their faith on the line and themselves in danger.
On a note of detail, I’ve never heard that Bonhoeffer was hanged with piano wire as were the July 20th plotters. Can anybody verify this point?

Dietrich Bonhoeffer has long been my favorite 20th Century theologian (and I’m Catholic).
