Joe Biden's Alternate Universe
In Thursday nights vice presidential debate between Senator Joe Biden and Governor Sarah Palin, Biden said the strangest and most ill-informed thing I have ever heard about Lebanon in my life. When we kicked along with France, we kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon, I said and Barack said, Move NATO forces in there. Fill the vacuum, because if you dont know if you dont, Hezbollah will control it. Now whats happened? Hezbollah is a legitimate part of the government in the country immediately to the north of Israel. [Emphasis added.] What on Earth is he talking about? The United States and France may have kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon in an alternate universe, but nothing even remotely like that ever happened in this one. Nobody nobody has ever kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon. Not the United States. Not France. Not Israel. And not the Lebanese. Nobody. Joe Biden has literally no idea what hes talking about. 2008

And there would be 3 days worth of headlines if PALIN used “IS” instead of “ARE”
God Bless the First amendment, and may God HELP the MSM, they REALLY could use some.
The media will pass on everything.
Mccain’s only outlets are to make so much hay elsewhere they can’t ignore it like the Swifties
and to bring up the negatives in the debate
But it sure makes him feel good to say it! It makes his point.
Too bad the unbaised moderator didn't follow up. Too bad Palin didn't hit him back.
Perhaps McCain will bring this up next week. Won't hold my breath.
Obiden thought it sounded good and the sheople are so stupid they’ll never realize it’s a lie.
Yup - one only has to ask what the media response would have been had Palin made this comment to confirm that there is massive media bias.
Back during the last Israel-Hezbolla dustup, I went to the website of a city in So. Lebanon, named (exact spelling dependent on which map you are looking at) Bint Jbeil, Bint Jubayl (etc. - why can’t anyone decide on how these names are spelled!) It was quite illuminating.
This was a city of 40,000(ref.1) commonly referred to as “The Capital of Hezbollah”, and Hezbollah has been there almost as long as Hezbollah has been around, from what I can find out. Hezbollah suffered heavy losses in the 2006 war, and the town was heavily damaged, but as soon as UN forces entered the area (after Israel withdrew), Hezbollah was back in full control again. The Hezzies were never fully driven out: Heck, for all practical purposes, you’d have to occupy the city with a large and very determined force for some time to accomplish that. (Or simply level the entire place.) The surviving Hezzies (most of them) simply laid low or moved a few miles until the IDF left.
The idea that there was a vacuum to be filled, even in just that one small city, is nonsense. The Hezzies were back (promising to rebuild) literally on the heels of the departing Israelis. (Ref.2) Truth be told, even the IDF couldn’t fully control the place
Worse, the idea that anyone and anything short of an all out effort by U.S., British, or Israeli forces, likely with losses exceeding losses in Iraq, would be effective in displacing Hezbollah in Lebanon, and keeping them out, is just ludicrous. Biden thinks NATO could keep ‘em out? Nato? After seeing NATO’s performance in Afghanistan??? Good God, I’d expect such nonsense from Obama, but I thought at least Biden had more sense than that!!! But apparently I was mistaken.
Finally, Biden said in the debate: “I said and Barack said, Move NATO forces in there. Fill the vacuum, because if you dont know if you dont, Hezbollah will control it.
Ok, Joe. WHEN specifically did you, and when did Obama, make this recommendation? When, where, and to whom?

(It also irritated me immensley, back in ‘06, that the MSM kept referring to a city of 40,000, Hezzie through and through, as a “village”, and then criticized the IDF for not being able to control it with a small # of soldiers. Of course, I notice on their website that Bint Jbeil is also referred to as a village there - no doubt to reinforce the notion that this little heroic village stood up to the powerful IDF!
When Biden uttered that lie and Palin didn’t respond, I let out groan. I’m not an expert on the situation, but I knew we didn’t kick Hezbollah out of Lebanon. None of Biden’s lies will be challenged in the mainstream media.
